I'm a big gun control advocate! Really! I really am!

I support background checks! Just make sure there's no paper trail, because, you know, that's de facto registration, and we all know that gun registration is the first step towards confiscation, which then leads to prison camps and mass enslavement. But I'm all for background checks!

Also, I support limits on magazine capacity. The limit should be 30 rounds because that's "standard capacity" based on today's modern weaponry!

I support the ban on assault weapons. And by that I mean the ban on machine guns that is already in place, because, you know, the term "assault weapon" was invented by gun grabbers to describe scary looking guns.

Of course, you might think I oppose gun control simply because I've spent almost all of my time on DU criticizing Democrats and making rabidly anti-gun-control posts in the gungeon. But really I'm secretly a big fan of gun control. I just don't want to see the Democrats overplay their hand by doing something draconian like limiting magazine capacity at 29 rounds, because then we'd lose every election for the next 50 years, and nobody wants that!

I just want to help the gun control cause, and I think it would be helpful to have someone like me on board that knows the names of all the parts of a gun, because in the end, that's the most important thing in the gun policy debate.

We're all on the same side here. I'm a big gun control advocate. Can't you tell?

Just don't let them take our spoons, the spoon-grabbers all think that spoons make us fat.

Now let's all go drink some beers, play some Nugent, and shoot r guns at some beer bottles.

Unfortunately, most here are more comfortable just restating their position on the issue and sarcastically ridiculing the other side.

by the way, if I might be permitted to bloviate a second.

Everytime I see your name, I think of Mr. Trayvon Martin.

and everytime I see the NRA or an NRA million dollar talking points suit, I see Zimmerman.

and the entire issue to me is crystal clear.

Actually the dividing line was crystal clear with that Timid McVeightheCoward.
Because once one knew he actually wished he had used his stockpiled guns and not one big hit that killed 19 kids and so many others, the entire mindset of the NRA talking points all were rebuked.

No, they do not want their guns to collect. After all, one can collect a gun and put it in a nice frame on the wall, and not need one bullet.
One can hunt with a bow and arrow.
One can, like I do when I play minigolf, go to the range and they will hand me a putter and a ball and on the exit, I hand it back. Same can be done with the gun/bullet. Inventoried and such.

If only Zimmerman were packing a bowling ball or golf ball, Mr. Martin would have had a fighting chance.

Crystal clear this issue is.

What halfway point is there in reality?

and your name reminds me of why the insanity in the street, of a kid reaching into his pocket
and getting a pack of skittles and some dumb Paul Blart vigillante judge jury execution reaching into his and pulling out the vessel that took Mr. Martin's life that day when the bullet fired from Zimmy from Florida's gun.

Yeah, things get a little easier, once you understand, that no where in that equation is there room for meeting in the middle.

AND ZIMMY HAD A LEGAL GUN (like almost always, they do.)
In what real world, would Zimmy have NOT been allowed to have a gun?

And I bet, at this moment, Zimmy could walk into 35 states in a gun show and buy another gun and without question by anyone, purchase 1000 bullets.
And if he chose to, do the same crap again.

Case closed.

Zimmy the Poster Person for the NRA. Crystal clear.

"Because I'd like to see effective and Constitutional gun control that won't get reversed at the
next round of Congressional elections"

That's just one example of the remarkable "transformation" sweeping the Gungeon tonight! All of a sudden our "pro gun progressives"** have discovered that they are really gun control advocates!

You literally couldn't make this shit up. Why can't they just be content to post their pro-NRA bilge where it's allowed, which is pretty much the rest of DU? To ask the question is to answer it.

I knew they'd never be just content to let us come over here and discuss the gun issue among ourselves in peace: and they've proven it. Their sense of self-centered entitlement is simply breath-taking, but par for the course in NRA-land.

to disrupt this safe haven forum for the sheer the hell of it.

The poster above is a Gungeon regular who has spent the vast majority of his DU career posting pro-NRA talking points and gun lobby bilge all over DU; which is fine, as he has apparently never crossed enough lines as of yet to face a PPR. Great!

But note he cannot stay out of this recently created forum with its SOP: the urge & temptation to troll and disrupt even here - perhaps especially here - is simply too much: he cannot limit it to the GCRKBA forum, so he snarks and spews and trolls here.

It will continue to happen as long as we don't have some kind of Host authority to put a stop to it, as the "RKBA enthusiasts" are not interested in "good faith" or playing by any kind of decent rules: they simply wish to pimp for and spew out pro-gun lobby talking points and memes, everyone and everything and every other notion of decorum & etc. be damned.

I know it's being worked on; the sooner it's resolved the better.

We need laws that stop folks like that from arming up. So as not to be bigoted, we need all but outright ban of toting, and limits on number of guns one can accumulate, types too. For everyone, not just Teddy Nugents of world. Admittedly, it won't get done tomorrow. Changing perception of guns in society is important too.
