Allegri-Miserer mei, Deus, music for Tenebrae during Holy Week.

The top one will make you cry. Psalm 51 in latin. It was only supposed to be sung in the pope's chapel but someone snuck it out.

Tenebrae is the service of shadows or darkness during Holy Week. The lights are gradually lowered until the end when it is completely dark, than a large noise is made representing the resurrection of Christ and a one candle that was hidden is returned to it's place. People then leave in silence. This service can be performed at anytime on Holy Wednesday, the morning of Maundy Thursday, or the very early morning or early evening of Good Friday. It is not meant to be the main service on Good Friday. The readings are taken from the monastic hours of Holy Week. The Lamentations of Jeremiah are also sung during this service. The next video is shows how they are sung during the service<iframe width="640" height="360" src="

Note that before each Lamentation a Hebrew is sung or announced before it.

This is another version of the Lamentations
