New York Times: Mapping the USA for Your State's Share of Military Gear -MRAPS/Assault Weapons/ETC.

I don't have a NYT Subscription and their Interactive Site worked great for me. It's shocking what it reveals....

---------

[Mapping the Spread of the Military’s Surplus Gear

State and local police departments obtain some of their military-style equipment through a free Defense Department program created in the early 1990s. While the portion of their gear that comes from the program is relatively small (most of it is paid for by the departments or through federal grants), detailed data from the Pentagon illustrates how ubiquitous such equipment has become. Highlighted counties have received guns, grenade launchers, vehicles, night vision or body armor through the program since 2006. AUG. 15, 2014

168 Assault Rifles, 18 Helicopters, 43 Grenade Launchers, 4 Night Vision Pieces, 2 Armored Vehicles.

And that's just One CITY....there are little Towns getting MRAPS and the Rest when I checked around.... Even the littlest of places have these Anti-Terrorists Equipment from Wars pushed on them...(well they are happy to get it for the Macho Police Types) but the population will be considered a Threat ....if they ever RISE UP and the Equipment is ready and waiting to mow them down.... UGH...all over America..and to see this in CT...I guess those Bankers and Wall Streeters up and down the CT Coast REALLY WANT their Protection on the Taxpayers Dollar! Means they can spend less for their Private Security.

When I lived there it was just lovely New England with Town Hall Meetings and a sense of Tolerance. Seems it's become almost like what the Southeast has become with the 1% Rule working 24/7 without any sense of conscience of how the rest of the people function or live.
