I'm a frequent movie-goer

I'd like to see more discussions of movies on DU -- so I'll start.

This weekend, I saw:

Gone Girl -- didn't read the book so I went into it with no pre-conceived ideas. Generally, I liked it. Good plot tracks and very good character development (don't want to give away the whole thing).

The Liberator -- life of Simon Bolivar. Slept through the first 45 minutes or so. It wasn't riviting. Good cast, excellent visuals but felt propagandist, you know, the glorious days of yore kind of thing.

The Last Days in Vietnam -- I'm old enough to actually remember the news stories at the time so some of it, I remembered. What I didn't know was the personal stories of how individuals helped evacuate others. I also didn't remember what a total incompetent the Ambassador to Vietnam was. And, of course, I nearly puked when Kissinger was interviewed on film.

So what movies did you see?

I gave it a 3.5 out of 5. I didn't read the book either, and really enjoyed the movie.... Though hard to believe he'd stay with her after all that she put him through..... Husband gave it a 4. He really enjoyed it. One part was terribly graphic..... And did cover my eyes....pretty gory.
