Went to the doctor yesterday. I seem to be doing very well. He said I will not have to come back

for four months. I have also started a Medica coaching program that is supposed to help me meet my goals. At this moment I don't know what goals I am working on.

Then I went to the eye appointment and will get new glasses because my vision has changed a lot this year. Have a month full of other exams yet to go.

Follow up: blood level is 7.2. New glasses are working wonders. I can see again. The coaching program was interesting - am going to work on managing stress. Some very helpful ideas even the first session.

1. Your vision changes may be due to blood sugar

If that is the case, as you get better control of your sugars your vision will stabilize. That was my first overt symptom that I had high sugar- I couldn't focus well. Went to the eye doc and he said I should get a glucose test as this may be from the onset of type II diabetes. He was right-I tested 550+. The doctor said that the high concentration of sugar in the blood can draw some of the fluid out of the eye causing it to sag a bit thus unable to focus clearly.

In any case with diabetes go to the ophthalmologist regularly so they can track and serious changes in your eyes.

2. We took an A1C yesterday and he will write me to tell me what level I am at. Hopefully I am where

we think I am supposed to be. I also have cataracts so that could be the problem. They will mature in a year or so. I like to read, and work on the computer so I can't wait to get rid of them.

3. If your blood sugar is at all still high, don't get new glasses until it is

stabilized by your meds. My eyesight changed so drastically between my appt and delivery of the glasses that the glasses were useless. Ask the ophthalmologist whether you need to wait a bit and have your eyes retested when they are stable.

4. My ophthalmologist said he could write a perscription for new lenses

but I should get my sugar tested first. This is a doctor who can see beyond his specialty. They are getting rarer and rarer.
