Hello y'all

I have ADHD.

I take Adderall to function.
Both my sisters have ADHD and ADD and have been on stimulants too, to mitigate their symptoms.

ADHD runs in my family.
People who say ADHD isn't real don't understand the struggles it causes. The emotional outbursts the hyperfocus, the easy frustration, losing things ,start doing something than doing other things before finishing the first thing. Being unable to follow a movie or a conversation or just to read a book. it's rough. The constant restlessness and anxiety.

I was diagnosed ADHD in the early 70's
I took Ritalin back than.

Adderall has a perception among some doctors that it is a bad drug. I know for some people it's dangerous and bad.

The other meds I take help with my other mental illness.

But Adderall stops the rapid fire intense emotions that come out of nowhere. It makes me calm, I can watch a movie read and do art. I feel genuine relief when I take it. I sure as hell wouldn't be handling quarentine as well as I am.

I have been on the same dose for 15 years. I don't need to take more than what my dose is. I do not crave it. I don't get side effects.

I just feel normal when I take it.

I have had ADHD all my life. It never went away when I got older. I went many years without it being treated and I was miserable and blamed myself for it. I hated that I couldn't do what others did with ease.

I get annoyed when
people kneejerk blame trump's narcisstistic behavior and hyperness on Adderall . Or when he's slow and doddering on tranquilizers like thorazine or benzodiazapines.

These drugs help people who need them.

Blaming Adderall and other psych drugs on trump's behavior creates a illusion that mentally ill and ADHD people are addicts.

Adderall effects addicts looking to get high by making them hyper.
Trump is an addict. He has no medical reason to take it obviously because it makes him hyper.

It makes me feel calm.

When someone blames Adderall on someone's manic episodes,or thier wired hyperness it creates a bigoted impression about people who take stimulants for medical reasons, like ADHD, ADD and narcolepsy.

It reinforces the notion that ADHD is a bullshit diagnosis.
And that pisses me off.

When they were taping because of the stress of having to read his cue cards, knowing he didn't read well. The giveaway that he's taken the drug is all the loud sniffing he does on it. At the first debate with Hillary, his sniffling was so overboard we noticed it and wondered what was wrong with him. There's another drug he takes, an antihistamine or something, and in one photo of him in his office at Trump Org, there's a drawer ajar behind him exposing several boxes. I think he takes the European version which friends can bring in on their flights.

4. Also taking (very low dose) Adderall

My experience: I take a half tablet of the lowest dose made, which amounts to 2.5 mg, when I need to get work done (like at work). It is somewhat calming, and I find I am far less distractable. My sister suggested this dose, she has the same condition and is a psych ARNP. ADD / ADHD runs deep in my family. Wishing I would have understood some of the more unusual manifestations of the condition years ago, but starting Adderall at age 60 was a bit enlightening. I still have misophonia, but a whiff of a fragrance or a slight noise no longer completely destroy my concentration like without the Adderall. I really wish I had discovered this 20 years ago, my career would have been far different I think. Being a low-level functionary in a University Institutional Review Board is not a good use of my Ph.D. in Molecular Genetics, but it more or less pays the bills. Lack of ability to focus, or remain on-task, has plagued my entire adult life, and I was a rather poor student since age 12 or so, despite having a lot of education.

I think it is a bit rough sometimes being non-neurotypical, a lot of people don't understand. So leaving alone DJT's addiction, I was wondering what activities other people experience more positively as a result of the ADD meds. Also wondering if others here have read, or would recommend Thom Hartmann's writings on the subject of ADD.

I served in the military and finished a degree, and god was it hard!

In July -just three months after my ETS, I went in and was prescribed ritalin. Now I am trying to go back to school for nursing and working on the prereqs starting with chem and anatomy. For the first time in my life I feel organized, motivated, calm, competent and capable. For the first time in my life I am likely to receive my first A ever in a difficult class (maybe two!). I had no idea it could be this easy, and I always assumed I was simply incompetent, incapable or stupid.
This statement resonated with me more that anything:

"I have had ADHD all my life. It never went away when I got older. I went many years without it being treated and I was miserable and blamed myself for it. I hated that I couldn't do what others did with ease."

Thank you for reminding me I am not alone.

I’ve taken it not to get high and out of my mind, but to “smooth out the wrinkles of my day”.
I can calm down and concentrate on the important things, I need to do in my daily life.
Also, feeling good about what I accomplish on this drug is an added bonus.

So how can that be a bad thing?
