Hello, I just discovered this group.

I'm retiring early in two days. Yea, me. When I decided to do this Mom was stable for being 89 years old with declining vision. I thought that I would be able to spend some quality time with Mom and enjoy not working. Then her back turned against her. She is in constant pain and has had two hospital stays just to stabilize the pain. There are multiple problems with her back. She is not bad off enough for a nursing home, we can't afford assisted living, my spare bed room is now occupied by my son with Muscular Dystrophy, so Mom is in her Senior apartment.

I now know that my time will be helping Mom as much as possible. My dear wonderful sister lives just an hour away and she is my rock! I couldn't do this without her living close by, available by text and phone 24/7.

I'm glad I found this group. Everyone is helpful and compassionate. I'll be checking in from time to time.

What a good daughter -- and mother -- you are. And how wonderful that you and your sister have each other. Good luck to you both.

I love DU in general and was delighted to find this group. I know there are a lot of baby boomers in similar situations, but this may be just what I need.
