Suarez's Buzzer-Beater Sends No. 10 TCU Past West Virginia
MORGANTOWN, W. Va – Marta Suarez buried a buzzer-beating 3-pointer and No. 10 escaped West Virginia with a 51-50 win over the Mountaineers on Wednesday at Hope Coliseum.
Trailing 50-48 with 2.8 seconds remaining, Suarez slipped to the top of the key on an inbounds play, jabbed with her right foot and sunk a step back three from the top of the key as time expired.
It was a crucial victory for the Horned Frogs, who last won in Morgantown in 2020. TCU (17-1, 5-1 Big 12) stayed within a game of first place in the Big 12 standings and booted the Mountaineers from a cluster of one-loss teams in league play.
Suarez was 3-18 from the field before she sunk the game-winner. TCU shot 36 percent collectively. TCU managed to win despite finishing with season lows in points and assists (five) and a season-high 24 turnovers.
