I just got banned from the Hillary Clinton room.

Apparently pointing out empty rhetoric will do that.

Thank the gods. Ick, creepy, mentally desolate, my skin is crawling, I must shower.

Just remember, do not attempt this at home. My PSA.

Peace.

A post from the Hillary Group was featured on DU's front page without sourcing it was from The "Hillary Group" and I replied not knowing it was the Hillary Group. I thought I made a typo and went back to edit and realized it was Hillary Group when I located the post and immediately said "Oops, Apologize because I didn't know this was Hillary Group" but already had a host tell me to delete the post after I had edited and put my apology in. I replied that I had already apologized and should I delete my apology and host thanked me for editing and said no...but, I think I was probably banned anyway.

So, it was an accident and poster "J.D. Priestly" had the same thing happen when a post from "Hillary Group" was up on DU front page and she replied not knowing and got banned. Neither of us had ever posted there.

So, It can happen unintentionally.

Wed Apr 15, 2015, 07:42 PM
Apr 2015

One of the BOGgies posted there that critics of Obama were applying a double standard. I consider that a very serious charge, so when I saw that post (because it got recc'd up to the Greatest page) I responded to defend myself and others who don't think Obama is perfect.

I was blocked from the BOG, with the explanation, "We like our peace." Well, my view is, if you like your peace, don't start wars.

As the Hillary Clinton Group became more prominent, I wondered how they would handle such a situation. I asked one of the hosts, who replied in part:

This is how I see it, we have a Statement of Purpose that we adhere to and it's pretty specific. Hillary supporters are trashed on a daily basis in GD and there is nothing I can do about that. I can protect them in the HCG though (which I will vigorously do, that's why I am a host there). I will let people blow off steam for the crap they take in GD (because I take it myself).

So, people in HCG can say something like "Clinton's opponent are all misogynists, there's no other reason anyone would oppose Her Magnificence," and if you respond by mentioning gender-neutral reasons for opposing her, you'll get blocked. I think that's an abuse of the "safe haven" concept.

As long as they take that position, though, any disagreement with a smear about Clinton opponents will have to be addressed in an OP elsewhere. I would link to the offending HCG post and explain that I can't respond there without violating the rules of their little playpen.

I was afraid this would happen when it started. We began well enough, and had a lot of real discussion here. Now, unfortunately, there is more and more of stuff like this: no issues, no nothing, just ragging on another group of people that should have nothing to do with what is discussed here.

Fuck Clinton. The establishment will push her whether we argue about it or not. She'll continue running to the detriment of any real discussion. Can we not have this crap posted here? We all know she's a terrible option. The whole point of this group was to have a real discussion on reforming the Democratic Party and to what extent that is possible. I get that we're frustrated, I really do, and that we should have a place to vent. But this isn't a discussion about any issues, at all. I don't come to this group to see more crap about Clinton. There's plenty of fluff and flamebait in GD already. I come here to discuss populism and the movement leftward within the Democratic Party.

I'm sure I'm going to get torn apart for this. But I really think posts like this should be limited, or at least we should set up a stickied venting thread so that this stuff doesn't bleed over into legitimate discussion.

Yet we inch closer and closer to their demands with each election. I like Bernie asking for things that seem pie in the sky, that's how the other side gets what they want.

We need to start demanding more populist legislation and never ever stop. Maybe then we can become a more balanced union instead of the 1% funding both sides and winning every fucking time.
