Study: Sanders supporters are least likely to watch cable news

A new study on the media habits of voters found that Bernie Sanders supporters are some of the least likely among candidates' supporters to watch cable TV in general, and cable news in particular.

About 85 percent of those who identified at Sanders supporters in the Katz Media/Nielsen Scarborough Research Panel study said they watched cable TV in general (both entertainment and news channels), compared with 87 percent of Hillary Clinton supporters. For Marco Rubio, 92 percent of his supporters cited cable television — the highest among decided voters — whereas 89 percent of Donald Trump supporters used cable. Only 32 percent of Sanders supporters said they watch any of the cable news channels. Rubio supporters were most likely to watch cable news with 59 percent saying they do so.

If you want to know what's going on in your neighborhood you have to talk to your neighbors. If you want to know whats going on in the rest of your area you talk to coworkers and well people on the street. If you want to know whats going on in your state you are probably SOL unless you are involved in some kind of state organization. National news is only what the PTB wants us to know.

Remember back in 1984 when Apple Computers ran that ad for their new Macintosh computer using an Olympic athlete to throw a hammer through the huge tv screen of the character from the movie "1984" telling the audience how to act?

And then in 2007, someone stole that idea --- and they replaced that talking head character from 1984 with Hillary to use as a political ad.
That was the beginning of the end for Hillary's campaign in 2008, right then and there!!

I don't know who did that ad.
But, it generated more interest in the Democratic primaries a whole 6 months before the first primary than I had ever seen before.

This time, this year, they tried to crown Hillary 6 months before the first primary!!!!!

Al Jazeera America (but THAT's being canabalized in a month)

BBC (weekend round table discussions of international affairs are usually good)

I don't know WHAT I'll do after Al Jazeera's gone.

I READ ONLINE MOSTLY, whilst checking in with other shows such as Democracy Now! (also a cable show, but not within my FiOs choices, RT and other progressive shows.

Reading:
The Guardian
The Intercept
Asia Times Online

I think that's a hell of a lot better than MSfuckingNBC, CNN, and the networks are UNWATCHABLE!

demographics that the MSM is so obsessed with (race and gender).

And it shows both the power of cable news AND its increasing limitations as the two youngest generations shun its yoke.

Analysis of exit polling data:

But here’s where things get interesting. Back in the fall, when the issue of the gender gap between Clinton and Sanders supporters was raised, Matt Bruenig very shrewdly pointed out that the real divide there was as much one of generation as it was one of gender: younger women voters were supporting Sanders, older women voters were supporting Clinton. A lot of the subsequent polling and primary results have confirmed his premonition.

I wonder if we’re not about to see something similar—if not quite as dramatic—with non-white voters. The cross-cutting factor here is not only age—Bruenig has also shown that younger black voters are trending toward Bernie (see the graph at the bottom of this post), and even in South Carolina, Sanders did much better with younger black voters than he did with older black voters—but also region.

http://coreyrobin.com/2016/03/02/super-tuesday-march-theses/

So perhaps the opportunity for the Sanders campaign and supporters is to reach out to the people we each know who get >80% of their information from cable TV. Let them know about the holes in the superdelegate narrative that is being pushed.

This is actually a very tight race now. In some sense it has been Bernie Sanders race all along since Clinton has such high negatives and he doesn't. The era of transparency is dawning and the Clintons just aren't ready for it.

was to point out ways the media was failing people. People mistake it for making fun of politicians.

"These people are running our country. This is important to everybody. We're a comedy show and even we see a story here. You guys in the media need to step up your game;" Is how I would summarize it.

Seriously, we tend to get our news from a variety of online sources, research the bias of the author and the media outlet, research the info in the story and then determine whether it's factual.
