Related: About this forumClinton: "Democratic Socialism is NOT Progressive
During her Town Hall tonight, Hillary Clinton had this exchange with Chris Matthews:
CLINTON: No. No it doesn't go as far as Socialism, I'm sorry.
I'm sorry.
-Universal Health Care as a Right
-Free education at public colleges and universities
- Paid Family Leave
- Equal pay
The list goes on
If this isn't progressive, then I'm truly not sure what is. Yet another reason I cannot vote for her. I'm sorry. That is my political belief system. And it is for many others. To shrug it off as not progressive or to try and give voters the impression we are aiming for Government control of the means of production is just wrong. I can think of a lot of more choice words. But it's wrong.

(972 posts)But to support the worst military decision that this country has ever been involved in does not fit my definition of progressive. A politician who lines their pockets by working for the interests of the wealthy class over the interests of working people is not a progressive. A politician who's friends include Henry Kissinger, George Bush and Donald Trump is not a progressive.

We are not in a dog-eat-dog country, as far as I know, as far as we have been, as far as I want to the future.
We succeed if all of us succeed. We fall if members of our society fall.
Bernie says it best. Bernie says it often.

(38,505 posts)It's Hillary Clinton who is most decidedly not progressive. The common link among terms like socialist, liberal, progressive and democratic is that Hillary Clinton is NONE of those. She just plays one on TV.

so she has to resort to right wing tactics because that's all she's got.

(1,701 posts)Bernie is right: our campaign finance system is corrupt, and I feel certain that many politicians--including Hillary--find themselves pressured into supporting bills and policies that they do not believe in because of it. If the Supreme Court would overturn Citizens United and ancillary legislation, we could have a publicly financed system that would free our politicians to represent the interests of their constituents, rather than their campaign contributors.
I think that is why Bernie doesn't go after Hillary directly on this issue: he knows that this is how the system works and that it needs to change.

(5,764 posts)That is a betrayal of liberalism and an attempt to redefine bland centrism as "progressive".
And Clinton supporters will no doubt continue to tell us she's basically just as liberal as Sanders and keep steadily stampeding the party to the right.
Fucking awesome...

(4,753 posts)Radical then (Bug a-buga-booh!). I don't give a fuck what you call me, I'm not one of you; never have been; and never will. What I can tell you is Hillary is no fucking progressive. Hell, she's not even a liberal. She's a 3rd-Way conservative Democrat who grew up in a John Birch Society household where John Birch Society ideas and mores were lived out and discussed. This is Hillary's formative years environment where she developed her basic personality traits and values, just like the rest of us (except for the John Birch Society part, that is)."
Apologies for the language, y'all. Rant is over.

What about her "It's too hard" issues are for change. Evener her College loan crap is nothing new because it is already in place. She is basically telling people she is going to change the College loan system to be like it is now.
