Bernie Sanders
Related: About this forumIf she were running against anyone else besides Bernie ....
I very sincerely, for so many reasons, hope that she does not win the nomination.
I refuse to think about that possibility unless/until there is no other option.
I hope Bernie stands tall all the way.
He speaks truth to the power.
I am proud to walk the earth at the same time as this man.
He is up there. Way up there.
Ghandi up there. Mandela up there.
MLK up there. FDR up there.
Lincoln up there.
He is the embodiment of a well principled man.
I hope fathers point Bernie to their sons and say:
There is a man among men. Emulate him and you will have a life well lived.

(15,713 posts)something about our country and our party not about Bernie. That is what is depressing.
I see a lot of people, I mean a lot of people who want us to have a racist facist nation and then a lot of people who really would like a corporate country. Both choices of rule by the .01%. Way more than a majority of our country want this.
I feel so out of touch with this country more so than as a kid in south Arkansas and not understanding the "colored" thing and why they were less than me as a white boy. Still can not wrap my head around it.

(5,792 posts)corporate agenda. I know of many complaints in this primary of voting irregularities, not enough ballots, and other crooked stuff going on. She will win at any cost. Except the cost may be she loses.

(24,324 posts)I very seriously doubt she won ILL and Missouri...ESPECIALLY if one adds in the MSM's disgraceful behavior.
Even on NPR, (well, don't get me started on that) yesterday afternoon driving home-- some show ALL trump. One "expert"guy just could NOT shut his mouth.... Sounded like his big break on national radio...
Today driving ---Diane Fucking Rehm show...--- trump... Hillary.. "Bernie can not win."
It was just sickening.
I have seen too much evil in politics and business and the monied to believe it for a minute---

(45,984 posts)Let's remember that. We're not in this to get this or that result out of 2016.
No matter who emerges in November as the president-elect, our work will not be done. It will be nice if it's Bernie; that will make our task easier in the short run. If not, we'll just have to work longer and harder in the short run.
The goals is to end neoliberalism, the false socioeconomic philosophy that the economic engine works best when government pampers the rich with tax cuts and deregulation because the are "job creators" and the masses are forced to live with austerity in bad times. Americans voted for that thirty-six years ago and it didn't work. Every president since then has made policy with the same neoliberal set of assumptions, and it still doesn't work. Neoliberalism has widened the income gap, shipped jobs overseas and given rise to what would called corporate crime except that the mad rush to deregulate everything virtually repealed laws against fraud.
Worse, neoliberalism posits a culture of corruption among the elites of business and government that make it very hard to purge. Few politicians aren't on the take and almost all corporate executives see that bribes paid out to politicians in the form of perfectly legal campaign contributions is just a cost of doing business. The shysters on the US Supreme Court say that there is no evidence that bribes paid out to politicians by corporate executives in the form of perfectly legal campaign contribution establishes a quid pro quo. Any honest and reasonable person would call that a crock of steer manure and simply assume that any politician receiving large amounts of money from corporate executives and board members in the form of perfectly legal campaign contributions -- or a perfectly legal large contribution to a family run charity foundation or perfectly legal exorbitant speaking fees -- is bought.
Some things were not changed by yesterday's election results. Neoliberalism is still an unsustainable socioeconomic model and Bernie Sanders is still the only presidential candidate seriously addressing what must be done about it. Senator Sanders has made it a theme of his campaign that a political revolution is what is needed to fix what is wrong with the current state of affairs. That what he says is still the truth didn't change yesterday, either.
We are still the man on the white horse we have been waiting for. Nobody else is. Those are not windmills before us, but monsters that must be subdued. Have courage. Ride forth boldly.

(39,451 posts)I don't trust her, don't like her policies, don't like her condescending attitude, her regime change mindset, her ties to Monsanto, that she is for free trade & not fair trade, on and on.
I am going to start taking a closer look at Jill Stein.
If I'm going to throw my vote away, I might as well throw it away on someone that has the same beliefs as myself and not on someone that I do not support - just because she has a D after her name and definitely not because she is a woman.

(14,173 posts)She would never have had to defend her corporate pandering, and paid speeches, or her Iraq War vote. It would have been a bland coronation with most candidates in the same big bought boat as herself.
I'm not saying its all over, but IF it is, I not only learned a great deal about this remarkable man Bernie Sanders, but I, and I think many Americans, learned a lot about Hillary Clinton. It is now clearer than ever just what kind of person we would be electing, and just how much bullshit we will have to wade through. It prepares us FDR traditional Democrats for the battle ahead.
Because Bernie opened a conversational door that Hillary will have a tough time closing. I can see it is in the Plan to forsake the liberal base of the Democratic party and woo the lost moderate/right old school Republicans instead to fill the gap left. She knows most liberals will vote for her as, if nothing else, the best of two evils. That the status quo is still better than a narcissistic fascist.
But now we are better armed at least. It is obvious she plans to move the country even further to the right than Obama. The Corporocracy will be complete. Net Neutrality will be the next big fight and I now do not expect the NEW Democratic regime to be on our side, as many of the starry eyed Hilary pushers may eventually be frustrated at how long it takes to get onto DU as the right wing new owners of the net squeeze left of center sites to a snails pace.

(5,082 posts)What's the Hillary equivalent? Thatcher? Definitely not anyone who was for the people. She is for the corporations. It doesn't help much that she's a woman and that's very depressing. I hear the repubs want to run Condaleeza as 3rd party. That would backfire because would bring up 911 lies even if Clinton won't go there
