Yes, they're back... and yes they're baiting people. Here's what you need to know...

Here are the key point:

-The absolute worst have been pardoned. Most of those were legitimate... but that doesn't matter apparently.

-Bernie supporters are being silenced at a time when pro Bernie states are coming up. We have far more supporters here than Hillary does, so naturally, this affects us disproportionately.

-They are baiting! Be very careful! If they can get a series of quick hides on you, they can put your account into FFR status (Flagged for review)... and if the admins don't like you, your account will never leave it. FFR is a way Her supporters can get you effectively tombstoned without an admin doing it.

-Understand what this really is... it's a move to strategically silence Bernie Supporters. There are those who will claim otherwise, but consider this; the admins refused to perform this very same act when Obama was the presumptive nominee in 2008. The double standard is glaring.

Be careful what you post and where you post it.

GO BERNIE!!!!

because I think it's important to see the place as it really is. If they let trolls run wild it says a lot about what they want the site to be. Do I really want to be at a site where people that behave that way are the preferred members?

I don't ever donate but you don't have to give them money to make them money. Just being here does that. I'm not sure I feel good about helping them make money if they are going to endorse that kind of nastiness.

I came to talk with peers about facts. The site mostly offers colour commentary on rat fucking. Now that the money makers have reduced it to a PsyOps propaganda playhouse overrun by shills...In violation of their own rules. I feel used. You see they need the Bernie supporters as the straightman (please don't alert the term, it is not sexist or homophobic) to their vaudeville routine. The only thing that keeps me around is morbid curiousity at the moment. Looking for a reason to stay, but stench id getting quite off putting.

What was amazing was the OP was about a well known poster who had his posting privileges temporarily timed out. And this "lady" sends me a private message of "LOLOLOLOLOLOLOL". I just thanked her for proving my point with the applaud sign.

It is possible that those running this site have lost all control of it. It can't be easy with all the opposing ideologies floating around. So my criticism is sincere. But if I am timed out again, I am gone for good.

It's his site so he can do what he wants but it's turned into a decidedly undemocratic place. I was only lurking (albeit obsessively) back in 08 and it was bad, but I don't recall it being quite this bad.

I also have to chuckle at the fact that the among the current roster of pro-Clinton supporters are those who were exceedingly nasty about her the last go-round, so I've only my vivid imagination to try to reason out what caused such a profound change of heart.

So, if a group of her supporters wants to get you FFR'ed, they could seek out a number of your posts, and alert them in quick succession. If successful, your account gets locked down and Flagged For Review. If you are a political adversary or just disliked by the admins, they can simply refuse to review your account, and voila... you're effectively banned.

Two alerted posts locked one right after another. The second alert was bogus and is probably why they let me post again. Thanks for the info. I guess I better keep my posts innocuous. Sheesh.

I'm hoping the new jury rules stop this shit. Maybe limit how many alerts one peron has per day. And if you alert on a post that doesn't get locked you lose the right to alert or YOU get suspended. OR expose the NAME of the alerters!

Fri Mar 18, 2016, 04:24 PM
Mar 2016

They have a rule where new posters who are considered "malicious intruders" can be kicked off quickly and easily. They are probably keeping an eye out for new Bernie posters and then getting rid of them as soon as possible. Your best bet, if you want to stay here, would be to stick around and make extremely innocuous comments on safer threads like the DU Lounge or GD (but be careful) and stay out of GDP where the vultures lie in waiting. Gather up a larger comment count and and a longer membership period.

I am sure they made those multiple alerts to set you up.

14. It's as if they think the dominant candidate on DU will win the GE
Thu Mar 17, 2016, 08:36 PM
Mar 2016

That's not how it works.

I get that the internet is a factor, and places like DU can affect the narrative, but how much difference does it actually make anyway? It's not like anyone is on the fence at this point and recs are not actual votes. On Facebook or Twitter, I can understand because everyone is on them. But DU is largely politics nerds like us. I just don't understand the need to control DU to these extremes, to the point of silencing, baiting, vitriol and other toxicity. To what end? I don't get it.

What am I missing? Do they get paid for every FFR or tombstoned member or something? And that they are so outnumbered can't be good for DU overall, do they want to make DU their own private clubhouse?

If so, why not just create their own clubhouse? They can't co-opt DU when most members are Bernie supporters.

Maybe I'm overthinking this?? Maybe it's not rational at all.

They are deluded if that's the case. That game used to work, it won't anymore. It just makes people double down harder, people aren't uncomfortably numb, they are righteously mad. And the next GE is going to have even more millenials of voting age and even fewer boomers. The party has lost their damn mind.

It's a terrible tactic but ... Let 'em keep digging. It would behoove them to listen to their base but I'm not counting on it. That window is about to close. They are going to lose people permanently, many already have gone.

Fri Mar 18, 2016, 04:43 PM
Mar 2016

I don't know what their reasons are. We know she does not uphold Democratic values. We know she has serious problems with honesty and integrity. We know she's tight with Wall Street and the establishment loves her.

Here's what I think:

They want to force her though for some pro-corporate, anti-democratic ideological reason OR they are dead set in stopping Bernie in his tracks -- again, for pro-corporate, anti-democratic ideological reasons.

Either way, I'm pretty sure they represent the TPTB and we know those powers do not uphold the people.

I think the Reagan coup is almost complete. They want to complete it and have it over with.

Given Bernie's popularity with the people, any prominent website that appears to favor him could be a threat. So they need to shut us up one way or another.

Just my opinion.

••• I know it's hard to believe •••

That Bernie came from so far behind, and is doing so great. I'm thrilled that he is out there re-engerizing so many voters that haven't been heard by our party leaders in a long time. Even better, he's engaging with new voters, when the DNC wasn't even interested in saving Democratic Party seats.

So I say, Bernie running for President is great for the party, it's great for us, and great for the democratic cause as a whole. For far too long our party has had to pull right, and beg at the corporate trough, because our base has widdled away. He's proving to everyone that we don't have to do that. Imagine if Hillary would have engaged her base or decided to have a straight forward converstion and make some changes vs More of the same. Really, imagine what a great place our party would be in right now. Such a shame.

Anyway... Instead of beating us up with sticks, how about considering some of the great things that are going to be possible now. Especially since Bernie and supporters like us are in it all the way. The republicans aren't looking so hot right now my friend, wouldn't you agree? We're sitting over here with millions of mobilized and energetic supporters on a mission for serious change in this country. And donors? We have donors. Each one of us has a vested interest with boots on the ground. $27 freaking dollars, can you believe it? They're freaking out! And all they have is a ticking time bomb. We're they're worst nightmare. On the bright side, Skinner has clarified in ATA that each hide in the past 90 days is still -20% to the member's chance of being picked for a juror. One of the new revenants is at -80% net, i.e., even after the bonuses for activity, so there's no reason to waste a slot on him, at least for a while. There are, however, notable hotheads who have high jury percentages.

I don't blacklist people for being Clinton supporters. There are some active Clinton supporters whom I'd welcome on a jury, because I think they'd make a sincere effort to be fair. The ones who do not meet that description, however, are still too numerous for my blacklist to accommodate, so I have to make some tough choices.
