This was not happening in 2008 when we had a two-person race.

Karma.

That takes the power that comes of ownership to authoritarian megalomania that would control everything within its reach.

"White progressives need to adapt"

"The left has always been full of racism and sexism"

The Obama and especially Clinton ascendancies have turned DU into FR.

After 15 years at DU and 50 years in the party, the right wingers have finally pried both away from me.

7. The direction of DU

DU was set up to support Democrats (D) and the Democratic Party. I can see why they did that but have always sort of had a problem with it because it essentially mandates faith. Just like with religions, the people who are high up in the organization can get away with a lot of shit without being questioned because of that faith. See Cathoclicism.

The same can now be said of the Democratic party: Hillary is pretty much a republican in what she believes - at least as far as we can tell with her changing her positions every microsecond. DWS and the rest of the party machinery are dedicated to supporting Hillary and will bend however they need to in order to support her. They expect and to a large extend get people to blindly follow them anyway.

It seems like the majority of people on DU support Sanders. They do so because Sanders actually has the values that most of us associate with being a Democrat, being liberal, being progressive. I've often thought that people who are high up in religious organizations don't believe a bit of it and just pretend to because it's their job. Similarly, a lot of people high up in the Democratic party probably don't believe a bit of this crap. It's their job to win elections and those of us who do hold Democratic/liberal/progressive ideals are their market.

So the admins here are in a difficult spot. Hillary and the Democratic party don't share our values - don't have our faith, if you will - but they have the magical (D). It's in the mission statement at DU to support the (D). Maybe this is why Discussionist was created. Maybe all us Bernie supporters (traitors!) should go there and continue our discussions, and leave this place as the safe place for Hillary supporters.

10. Well said. I think you have nailed what is going on in the Democratic party today.

It reminds me a lot of the 60's. If you still supported Johnson and Humphrey after the anti-war movement began you were a Democrat who believed in the party above all else. Times were changing right in front of these conservative Democrats eyes and they couldn't see it. My politics were shaped back then and I have been at it too long to fall for the Hillary charade.

... but I can kind of see the parallels. I can't see supporting a democratic party that is taking on all the qualities of republicans. I know people want to "belong" to a group and will defend that group as being the essence of all that is good and right, but to do so is to ignore the reality of what is actually happening. Being willing to look at the party critically and being willing to criticise it is a hard path to take but a necessary one.

I agree with Bernie's message: we can't keep going in this direction where income is going to the top. That is destroying the foundation where the rich make their money, so it's even in their interests to stop it, but their psychopathy often overrides the more beneficial approach. Hillary supports them. The people supporting Hillary are supporting the very phychopathic behavior that is damaging us all.

The DLC won't be paying for this site. It's all about hit counts for ad revenue.

17. It is, and a lot of support is almost faith-based

It's becoming painfully clear that's the case on the Hillary side. Sanders supporters care about the issues and not about whether he was or wasn't a Democrat (D) before this election (read as Dr. McCoy yelling, "You are not of the body," for Day of the Archons). Since we are not faith-based, we are capable of getting mad at "our own" when they screw us over.

we bernie supporters have been called everything in the book yet clinton supporters never banned for it.

Democratic party be forcing clinton has proven it's not progressive.

I will never vote for clinton or trump.

they are driving out longtime dems from party to support clinton.
