And Debbie Medina shares something else, besides a thick Brooklyn accent, with the junior senator from Vermont: Shes running as a democratic socialist.
Democratic socialism means that the community controls its own future, politically and economically, Medina tells The Nation. It means that the wealthy are not the only people with a voice. Medina smiles. Were bringing the political revolution to Brooklyn.

This time, Medinas campaignanti-plutocratic, unapologetically left, and competing with an establishment Democrat in a heated primaryrepresents what many movement leftists hope will be the future of electoral politics in the Sanders moment and after.
Just as earlier campaigns helped prove that something like a Sanders candidacy could have such wide success, says Dan Cantor, the national director of the Working Families Party, [the Sanders campaign] will pave the way for other populist insurgents to run against the political and financial establishment.

Doesn't mean I can't donate though... Thanks!

Good! Glad to see it! I hope that she wins!
Right now, in the 19th Congressional District, there is a primary where Zephyr Teachout, a Bernie Democrat, who ran against Cuomo in the primary for governor and got 35% of the vote, verses John Kehoe, a 29 year old neocon, and William Yandik, the town of Livingston Supervisor.
Teachout got a majority of the votes in the gubernatorial primary in the district, and she is a Bernie backer, so I am with her!

It seems as though all that was necessary was a spark.
Bernie, the spark that ignited a revolution.
Thanks for the heads up - I hadn't heard anything about her!
