Bernie Sanders
Related: About this forumAre we beginning to see a pattern?
Over and over again, we're seeing some kind of mass confusion or disruption of the voting or caucus process followed by a narrow Clinton win. Coincidence? Once would be a coincidence; this is a repeating pattern.

(3,111 posts)and things like endless wars of aggression, cuts to Medicare and Social Security, collusion with corporations over average people, bad trade deals which you're for one day and against when it suits you. Phrases like "Citizens United is swell" are coming up among my morning affirmations.
If I try really, really hard, perhaps I can become assimilated and not notice there is anything wrong with these things either.

(13,863 posts)government that no one can be allowed in office who might expose it. The financial meltdown of 2008 comes to mind. The biggest financial catastrophe since the Great Depression and what exactly has happened to find out those responsible and deal with them? Or the trillions spent on wars? Where did it go? Essentially, Bernie is a whistle blower for the entire corrupt set-up. He cannot be allowed to have the power to expose what's been going on for a long time, the entrenched interests are not going to let it happen.

(2,125 posts)Can you imagine the housecleaning that would go on if Bernie became POTUS? Well they can and they'll do whatever it takes to stop him. Voter fraud wasn't just a one-time deal to help Bush. It's an ongoing problem.

(241 posts)It's one thing to know of the moneyed interests working against change and that says nothing about what we cannot see. Though to many if you can't see it it must not be there.

(3,040 posts)Not only that, Sanders will stop the Billions being made through corruption & war. There are too many powerful people (people way above the power the Clinton's have) that want to keep the status quo to continue to make money. Sanders will end that.
The good thing for us average citizens is that even of Sanders is not the nominee, there is no way to put the lod back on the movement. Come next election cycle, maybe this movement will come to fruition. This can even be seen, although erroneously, on the right with the Trump support.

(2,872 posts)Clinton was supposed to be the heiress apparent, but Sanders was the spanner in the works. The media and the DNC believe the average voter is too ignorant to realize what's going on-- don't look behind the curtain, it's bad for you.

(5,400 posts)Much of the party establishment sees Sanders as an insurgent, and these new voters as a bit akin to barbarians at the gate.
Part of the issue is that the people at the top and/or with influence do amazingly well for themselves even when we're not controlling Congress, and/or can't get things done.
Would they still do amazingly well if our party had a significantly more progressive platform and agenda? If one sees the answer to that as "No" then the lack of effort in accommodating new voters doesn't seem as odd. And it's not a conspiracy, it's just human nature.
