(27,247 posts)I was thinking of voting in the Democrats Abroad primary, but didn't know if I could make it because that's a time of year when I always have health problems (because of heavy amounts of seasonal pollen) and I had my state ballot in front of me, so I went with that. As it turned out, my state went overwhelmingly for Hillary, while fellow Americans here in Japan voted overwhelmingly in favor of Bernie-- 1176 votes for Bernie, versus 178 for Hillary.

(12,232 posts)You're just a bit farther out there in Japan
Wow, that is a really strong showing there.
But good on you too for voting your state ballot. It could have made a difference.
Sorry to hear about the allergies. I get them sometimes in late summer/fall -no fun.

(27,247 posts)They have forests of sugi cedar trees here that release huge amounts of pollen in February/March. It's one reason why so many people wear surgical masks when they go outside. But I can't wear them for very long, because they become uncomfortable, maybe because there's too much exhaled air mixing with the inhaled air. Anyway, if that pollen gets in the lungs or bronchial tubes, it can become very uncomfortable.

(12,232 posts)I never thought about a connection between having allergies and wearing surgical masks outside. Makes perfect sense, though.
I react to a combo of dry heat and dust. Sometimes it doesn't bother me, usually if I get enough mist or moisture to counteract it. The dry, hot Santa Ana winds would nail me when I lived in California. It's better now since I can recognize the onset earlier and catch it before it morphs into something worse.

(27,247 posts)The outer part of the mask started to turn yellow from the pollen.
And sugi cedar pollen is as much an irritant as ragweed pollen.
At least the sugi pollen season is coming to an end.

(51,907 posts)As you probably know, we are not quite done yet for Washington for Bernie! The delegates in attendance at the Legislative District Caucuses (April 17th) and the Congressional District Caucuses (May 21st)
will determine the actual final number of delegates Bernie has at the National Convention in Philadelphia (July 25th-28th) [https://www.reddit.com/r/WashingtonForSanders/comments/4c6oq8/confused_about_delegate_results_attention_wa/]
So, the campaign is trying to make sure that it has a complete list and is looking to identify folks who were chosen as Bernie delegates or alternates. If you or anyone you know needs to be on that list, please sign up here: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1ZAzrde33jXjQDkstwk2dyHCpmfgdQhKpHhVhJLYRekU/viewform?c=0&w=1
Please share with any other Bernie delegates/alternates that you know!
