Beloved President Jimmy Carters political opinions are taken very seriously by both sides of the fight. Carter was arguably one of the best leaders the country has ever seen; the 89-year old certainly doesnt bite his tongue either. Throughout his current health issues, Carter has remained a beacon of logic in the 2016 Presidential race.
Carter has recently spoken out about the legal bribery that takes place in American elections, saying this to the BBC:
The erroneous ruling of the Supreme Court, where millionaires and billionaires can put in unlimited amounts of money in to the campaign, it gives legal bribery a chance to prevail, because almost all the candidates, whether they are honest or not, Democrat or Republican, rely on these massive amounts of money in order to campaign.
Now, Carter is setting his sites on Hillary Clinton specifically. Her actions (or lack thereof) as Secretary of State got Carters attention, and he wasnt afraid to air those grievances to Time Magazine. The ex-President said that Hillary really didnt do much to create peace in the country, as one would hope the Secretary of State would strive to do, at the very least.
Carter gave this statement via a phone interview for Time Magazine:
In this occasion, when Secretary Clinton was Secretary of State, she took very little action to bring about peace. It was only John Kerrys coming into office that reinitiated all these very important and crucial issues.

(3,111 posts)But those who persist in supporting her will only find out of she weathers this substantial fight for the heart and soul of the Democratic Party, and the general election, and FBI investigations that appear warranted and so forth.
Then, and only then, will everyone get to experience firsthand the essential warlike tendencies of Hillary Clinton, as well as her well-established ability to attract polarization in the country better than anybody.
I wonder what it will actually take for supporters to then reject the road we will have gone down?
Thank you Jimmy, for trying to talk us down from a dangerous choice.

But, oh, the plight we will all be suffering because of their stubborn denial of the reality of who the Clintons really are.
Why will we all have to suffer?
WHY??

(1,090 posts)And thru all the years and nay sayers I've never had reason to regret it.
I had just barely turned 18 and had a small crush on the professor of my freshman political science class during the first quarter of my first year in college. Those were heady times!
I love Jimmy Carter.

But cool observation, and thought provoking.
Had we kept his energy conservation plan in place, we wouldn't be in the mess we are today in the Middle East, and have a better handle on Global Climate Change.
One of the things (sins of omission) I have never forgiven Bill Clinton for was that he did not replace the Solar Panels (Hot Water Heaters) on the roof of the Whit House on Day One....the ones Reagan removed on his Day One.
THAT would have sent a solid message to the American People and the World.
There is a long list of things that Clinton did NOT do that he SHOULD have done.

(10,530 posts)without having really researched it, my general sense was that nothing much positive seemed to happen while Clinton was Sec. of State, but that we started seeing more movement in the right direction after Kerry got in there.

(29,456 posts)President Jimmy Carter is absolutely right.
(Washington, DC 7/11/12) Hillary Clinton has a very serious problem. She thinks that she runs the world and that those who disobey her must be punished, China and Russia in particular. Our chief diplomat behaves like a drunken bully, makes rash demands, and spoils for a fight with countries that can do some serious damage. (Image: Sascha W)
Over what? Regime change in Syria. Clinton is the tip of the spear for the project to control the Arab Spring movement. Her efforts have little to do with democracy. It is about controlling the agenda in the oil rich Middle East and the effort to prop up the decadent Saudi royals and other oil rich leaders hiding behind a nebulous organization called the Gulf Cooperation Council.

The whole "Hillary has great experience" and "Hillary has a fantastic resume" are marketing fictions. She has very little in the way of actual accomplishments. Just lots of international photo ops.
