Bernie Sanders
Related: About this forumBernie for VP
Bernie needs to be on the ticket.
If he can't be on top, he should be second.
K+R if you want Bernie to stay in the spotlight.

No to Bernie VP. Hillary will toss him after the two year mark and he'll be gone from public life. Professionally anyway.
RobertEarl
(13,685 posts)If he isn't the party may not come together and Bernie will get no press and his message would fade.
Hillary would be wise to make him VP.

(28,941 posts)As long as the good people of Vermont want him there, he should stay in the Senate.

(2,815 posts)There are so many groups, that would be a lot of posts to show. I counted about 177 groups not counting the 50 different states.

Which means lurkers who can't subscribe can not find this group unless they search each time.

(696 posts)Mayber he'll even 'flip' Hillary. lol
I mean, the guy is so likeable! It could happen!

(28,941 posts)If not, when would he run for president again? In 2020 unless she has single digit approval numbers, Clinton will run again which puts it in 2024. No VP will challenge a sitting president. By then Sanders will be 83 years old. Please.
As a senator he's a far more effective spoke man for progressives than sitting in a corner breaking the rare senate tie vote or attending funerals.
Doo!
He is way way more potent as a senator than as figure head....

And there's no way he'd be chosen for VP. They will go for a younger "rising star" for 2020 or 2024.

(13,685 posts)If Hillary wants to show she desires the Party to be united, she needs to ask Bernie to be her VP.

(1,561 posts)That is a ticket that definitely does not fit.
RobertEarl
(13,685 posts)Bernie is the best known and the man with the most votes. He's been vetted and he can draw millions of young voters to the ticket.
There is no down side at all.

(13,685 posts)Are you going to quit if he is VP?
I know Bernie criss-crossing the country for the next 4 months will actually gain him even more followers who will be inspired to join in and change the party. His becoming an insider is the best medicine for change.

(747 posts)If he becomes the VP, then everything he worked hard for will be wasted. It'll be a cold day in hell before the Clintons let him have his way, even a little. I'm sorry Earl, but I think that the idea that Bernie's going to be VP, is a pipe dream at best.
After all, the recs you got have less kicks than a mule on its off day, so that should say something.
RobertEarl
(13,685 posts)It was just a question. Only if we quit will everything he worked for will be wasted.
There are pros and cons to Bernie being the VP nominee. There are more cons if Bernie is not in the public eye. He being the VP nominee will have him on the campaign trail, paid for and working for the Democratic Party ticket. And in the public eye and still pushing the party and Hillary.
I am a die hard Democrat and Bernie is in the party. He's not out of it.

Biden didn't have the nationwide support like Bernie has. So, no, not like Biden,
