The UVM Democrats, UVM Progressives, and the Inter-Residents Association bring you Congressman Keith Ellison at 10 am on November 10th. Come join us at Ira Allen Chapel to hear from the Congressman on many national political issues. The event will also feature introductions by U.S. Senator Bernie Sanders, Congressman Peter Welch, Lieutenant Governor David Zuckerman, and Vermont Democratic Party Chair Faisal Gill.
Keith Ellison is a progressive Democrat from Minnesota. He is the Deputy Chair of the Democratic National Committee (DNC), co-chair of the Congressional Progressive Caucus and a Chief Deputy Whip, and serves on the House Committee of Financial Services. Ellison was the first Muslim to be elected to Congress and is one of two Muslims currently serving in Congress. He was also the first African American to be elected to Congress from Minnesota.
