Bernie Sanders endorses Marie Newman in fight for Dan Lipinski seat: Big boost

Sen. Bernie Sanders endorsed Marie Newman in her battle to defeat Rep. Dan Lipinski D-Ill., an expected boost that could help turnout the Democratic progressives she needs in the March 20 primary.

The Newman/Lipinski contest for the third congressional district will be a test of the political power of newly energized progressive Democrats on city/southwest suburban political turf anchored by a cluster of old-style remnants of Democratic machine wards on Chicago’s Southwest Side.

The Sanders boost comes as early voting has already started in Illinois. It’s not known yet if he will visit the district to rally voters, cut commercials for her, help her fundraise or do robo calls.

When I talked to Sanders last month he signaled his backing of Newman was on the way. He told me the door was “absolutely” open to an endorsement. He his 2018 goal is“to do everything I can to elect progressive members to Congress.”

1. Lipinski Is Really Ruffled This Election......

He never in the past had to spend much money to win re-election - because of the 'ski' in his name. A lot of Poles live in his district and vote for him because of his name. He never is challenged.

This time it is different and he has strong competition. So strong that yesterday I saw the first ever TV commercial for Lipinski. He actually had to shoot a commercial. It was aired during Cobert's show yesterday and I'm sure it's running on the local networks during the day.

This has been a long time coming. Lipinski must be ousted from Congress. He is a DINO and he most always runs contrary to the Dem Party.
