Related: About this forumInterestingly, I am have seen several Bernie

(9,126 posts)Apparently he does quite well in fundraising from here as well. But I know the big money is going for Clinton, which is not a shock.
We voted in grumpy old Brown and booted Whitman and Fiorina. Money doesn't always win here, which is surprising in some respects.
Aerows
(39,961 posts)and he's actually doing well here, too.
He's a breath of fresh air. I think everybody is sick of "Horrible person I can't vote for" vs. "Barely tolerable person I guess I have to vote for."

(9,126 posts)But I'm sure after the red scare the other campaign has planned, people will fall back into their safety zones and vote establishment. I have no doubt that is why Iran has been added to her stump speech.

(3,128 posts)The lack of enthusiasm for Brown was impressive; however, we elected him and refused to be swayed by Meg's hundreds of millions.
We are the canary in the coal mine too often. The rest of the country may be catching up, tired of choking on the money.

(45,251 posts)in between. The whole state is not Los Angeles and San Fransisco by any means--which is why Republicans have been striving for years to apportion California's many electoral votes. And, if national Democrats don't do something about it, as national Republicans have been doing, I wouldn't be surprised if the Republicans succeed one of these days.
BrotherIvan
(9,126 posts)Some of the coastal areas that were red are changing. Yes, you do have old money and new money there and they will vote Republican. But their children who are growing up now likely are not Republicans. It is very declasse to be an open Republican these days. The culture of California is so liberal, you'd have to be a fundie whacko to be an open Republican these days. We do have those inland and in pockets here and there, it's true. But we also have a huge population of PoC and the racist comments coming from Republicans means this state is locked up. No Republican will win this state in a national election for a very long time. That's why Regan was so lethal.

(22,271 posts)I'd like to say if the California Democratic Party had made ANY effort at all in the inland areas we would be represented by Democrats. Even with the majority registered Democrats in Fresno County they can't get a Democrat elected. Why? Because there is NO money being funneled here and it's too bad because if a REAL candidate ever challenged Costa (DINO) or Nunes, or Valadeo, we could actually have some progressives in there. But Costa runs unchallenged (thought that may change since he voted "yes" on TIAA, etc.) and Nunes and Valadeo either run unchallenged or with a sacrifice candidate. The last time it was a challenger that held $100.00 fundraisers (a high dollar amount for an area largely made up of farm workers) in the foo-foo section of town and never once did I see a yard sign, not a bumper sticker, nothing. Her "campaign" didn't even contact volunteers except to say 1) vote for me and 2) send me money. She lost in an area that can be won. But the CDP can't find the Central Valley with GPS and a map so we languish. And the local party machinery is so busy jockeying for position that little real work gets done. It's why I only volunteer for causes and candidates and try to stay clear of the local party machinery. There's already two rival Bernie groups.
BrotherIvan
(9,126 posts)Why the hell Democrats let those areas stay red is strange. You would think they like it like that. I also meant areas by the Nevada border down here that do contain a lot of Republican demographics. Mega churches are springing up and red politics is trying to keep a foothold there.

(8,175 posts)They sent me an e-mail saying it will be couple of weeks. They are too busy and late on getting them out. When they finally do, you will see a lot of them cropping up all at once.
I still have to order a yard sign.

I've made my own yard signs that way.

(19,926 posts)Like have it print in 4 pages that together make up one sign? My house is almost right on the sidewalk with just a planter in front, no real yard and I'd like to just put big signs in my windows.

(11,012 posts)Then on "Centering" and click both "horizontal" and "vertical," then click on "Fit To" and choose however many pages you want (probably 2 x 2) Then click "Okay" you will be ready to go.
The print out will be centered on each page and you will need to trim the margins and tape together, but your proportions will be correct. Since my signs went outside, I also taped (with clear packing tape) the entire surface of both sides to protect it from the elements.

(35,723 posts)I made my own 'cuz I didn't want to wait. Hokey and homemade looking, but I think that's good. It just shows this is a true grassroots movement and not some slick Madison Ave. campaign with which we all fall into line.
I taped them on the back of my station wagon window.
When I get the professional ones, these will go. In the meantime, make no mistake about it:
I AM FOR BERNIE!!!

I put the blue sticker on my car immediately...I'm gonna get some enlarged, color copies of the white one...I should be buying from the store but the delay (and shipping) is too much for me and I want to get signs in my front windows ASAP.

Once the university starts up in the fall, I'll likely see a lot of Bernie shirts and stickers.
