Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., speaks about his agenda in running for president, Thursday, April 30, 2015, on Capitol Hill. (Jacquelyn Martin/AP)

By TODD DOMKE
If you didn’t see Bernie Sanders’ short press conference announcing his candidacy for president as a Democrat, you might want to check out the video. It was a refreshing change from all the staged campaign announcements. There was no hoopla or unveiling of a slogan.

The 73-year-old Vermont senator may seem eccentric, but as a self-described “democratic socialist” he’s a true believer. And he says he is “running to win,” despite the odds.

Starting out, he is being treated as either a joke or Don Quixote.

Jimmy Fallon, host of “The Tonight Show,” showed a picture of him with unruly white hair, supposedly confusing him with a picture of Doc from “Back to the Future.”

Can't wait for the Senator Sanders look alike on SNL. They did a great job with Hillary and Palin and Obama.

What I don't like are allusions to his "crazy looking hair "in the mainstream media. Buzzfeed's already done a piece on it.I'm afraid it's going to be like the "Dean Scream".

Ass-holes who don't give two shits about our country, Ass-holes who usurp our country, Ass-holes that don't discern between what a person has said and done, as opposed to a person who say's what they will do. If we can rise to the occasion there's a person with the knowledge and courage to help us, Bernie .

In 1.5 mil in 24 hours, and 2.1 by his second day, with average donation $43 made a dent. They also covered his first days events vs Hillary's, to his advantage.
