(18,791 posts)Kind of mixed bag for me...still seemed to really poo-poo Bernie and his chances, of anything.
Ms. National Journal (is that right?) sure used all the cliche talking points...socialist, cranky uncle, populist (when will they as liberally call HRC a corprotist?), etc. etc.
And I'm not so sure Ms. Progressive, seemed progressive.

(41,146 posts)for the Bernie segment. The National Journal is aimed at INSIDERS, is funded heavily by Gates and the staffer was pretty negative in poo pooing Bernie, the wacky, old uncle from Vermont routine. Ahh..
The Progressive journalist was considerably better. How fast MSNBC is changing their tone politically, covering Trump's Mich. rally tonight, the Bushes, even in a 4:00 show I caught. But they are owned by conservative Comcast, so looking for Big Ed's POV & topics now is clearly pointless. Glad there are many alternative news outlets =much less MSNBC now.

(75,480 posts)She even filled in for Chris Hayes last week. But Ed was gone after his Wednesday show like he was asked to pack up and go and his show was supposed to end on Friday. Before that he was heavily promoting Bernie, having him almost on daily for commentary when the rest of the so-called liberal shows ignored him. So we probably will never know unless an insider spills the beans, but it sure looks like it.

(18,791 posts)something or someone that they felt they couldn't talk about/discuss...and he mumbled something about, well, that's gonna change soon.
It appears it's swinging very right.
And right now on Rev Al...all T-Rump, all the time...sigh.

(15,265 posts)It seemed very apparent that there were corporate interests involved, GE among them.. Tweety savaged her on a regular basis, in fact Ed was even involved. I know he was pissed off when she wouldn't appear on his show back then.
So what ever corporate, Big Oil, and Wall St @$$es that had to be kissed must have been kissed this time around.
This election like all the others has already been bought and paid for.
I'm voting for Bernie, h must be on h right track.

(41,146 posts)than GE I've read. I've seen a clip of Matthews deferring to old GE CEO Jack Welch, the slasher who said in 1999 that corps. should have their factories on barges to go around the world following cheap labor.
Down below a poster's friend says Comcast is playing along now, really setting up for vulture cap. bankruptcy and could care less about news. That would not surprise me given the times. Trump is good for declining cable ratings, otherwise a national disgrace, embarrassment ad corruptor. TRUMPENSTEIN, the Monster created by entertainment media who should take him back.

(41,146 posts)of MSNBC disliked Bernie's recent rise and Ed's closeness to him, even reporting from Bernie's Burlington, VT kickoff event. Ed was also at the huge Bernie rally in Madison with John Nichols on the ground. Ed also covered labor, Keystone XL, Climate- people's issues owned by Corpos. *Btw, Ed can still be seen- heard on his radio show 'We Got Ed' online, wegoted.com. MSNBC is very irregular now, with TMT- too much Trump and RWingery. I've ODed on TMT- toxic for the living, but declining M$M loves him for the Ratings.
- SEND TRUMPENSTEIN BACK TO ENTERTAINMENT MEDIA, THEY CREATED HIM -

(75,480 posts)I'm thinking of getting rid of my TV connection altogether and just doing internet.

(41,146 posts)Mike P. 'Pap' and international news broadcasts like BBC, Deutsche Welle, France 24, Russia Today and Al Jazeera, the TV would get the boot too. MSNBC is pretty shot as a more 'liberal network' clearly, except for an occasional piece on Bernie and progressive issues IF it happens to come up. Ed Schultz was reliable on populist topics and having guests like John Nichols, Pap and even Bernie. *Ed also still does a radio program that can be watched online at- wegoted.com.
Not spending time or effort hoping to snatch irregular and uncertain coverage, Ed was it. Chis Hayes even Rachel are bright but limited it appears in their ability to cover TPP, Keystone, climate, labor- more people's issues not corporate ones. Comcast, MSNBC's newer owner is even more conservative than GE that ran NBC & MSNBC several years ago.

(75,480 posts)I don't know about BBC but AlJazeera English can be streamed as can RT. Cspan if you are interested can also be streamed. I like certain shows on HBO, Showtime and Starz and I understand you can get those and many of the cable channels with Roku although I have to look into it more. But most of the broadcast stations run stream on their shows a week later so it seems I can dump the too expensive satellite and pick what I want if I make the effort to figure out how to do it. As far as cable news, I stopped watching CNN years ago and never watched Fox except when forced to in a public space.
A friend of mine has a theory about why MSNBC took a right turn. She thinks they deliberately want the channel to crash so they can declare bankruptcy, sell off the assets and make a ton of money with vulture capitalism. They aren't interested in doing the real news at all.
