Bernie Sanders
Related: About this forumI am leaving for awhile.
I know that in some ways I am breaking my own rules by posting a meta thread, but as a host of this Group, I feel it is warranted in order to explain my taking a break.
I am being alert stalked. I have had three posts hidden in the last few days.
One was for calling out a Clinton supporter who applauded the assault on Sanders in Seattle. Yeah, me asking them what the fuck is wrong with them is over the top?
The second was during an argument with another Clinton supporter and saying that it was like talking to water to converse with them. Yeah, that was over the top.
And finally tonight for calling the Clinton's narcissists, which they have demonstrated that they both are.
Fuck it. I am sick of the bullshit. I am sick of the false accusations against Sanders supporters. I am sick of countless lies, distortions, and rat-fucking.
I am involved here locally with Sanders supporters and will continue to be so. I do not know, however, how long I need to be away from here. It is toxic, and I long ago stopped being around toxic situations and people. If the other hosts and group members want me to step down as a host due to the hides and the need to be away from here for awhile, I will resign. Please just let me know here or in PM.
I will not be surprised if my post must be locked. I would likely let it be for awhile and then do the same myself.
Keep fighting the good fight here, and I will see y'all in a while.

We are either a discussion site that is tolerant of the expression of ideas with which we do not agree or we should admit that only a narrow range of ideas will be tolerated.
What shall we be? is the question.
A nasty place where people report and police each other all the time, or a generous, forgiving place where we discuss and learn? Which will it be?

I mean, it's so obvious that she's bought by Wall St. and that she's a warmonger and has more baggage than the entire road crew for U2's current tour. She talks the talk but she doesn't walk the walk. Yet, they'll say I'm not wrong about Hillary.
When Hillary was asked if she was for or against the Keystone XL Pipeline, she said she would answer when she becomes president and then laughed. WTF? Running for president is like interviewing for a job and we're doing the hiring. If I was applying for a job and during the interview I was asked what I thought about some kind of widget that the company makes and I answered that I'll reply to the question after I was hired, does anyone thing I would be hired? Not a chance.

(11,945 posts)in a slavish adoration that demands nothing -- nothing -- of the candidate. That's why I'm pretty sure it's psychological and based on very strong personal identification. ("She is me and I am her." "If she loses, I lose." "Her victory is my victory." When Elizabeth Warren seemed a little interested in the push for her own candidacy, I was very excited to see her run, and would have supported her to the hilt -- but could not believe the lukewarm response from Hillary supporters. So it's NOT just the "woman" factor; it's that particular woman. This is why I worry about what will happen to them if she loses the nomination. Remember the PUMA phenomenon? This would be worse.
OTOH, there are also Hillary supporters who will vote for her because they believe she is positioned to do battle with the Republicans.
I think most of the Hillary people here at DU belong to the former category.

When I get back, I will be adding a lot of people to Ignore and limiting my posting. I observed without participating here in 2008. Thanks y'all.
http://www.democraticunderground.com/?com=view_post&forum=1280&pid=39339
REASON FOR ALERT
This post is disruptive, hurtful, rude, insensitive, over-the-top, or otherwise inappropriate.
ALERTER'S COMMENTS
Not a democrat, this is rediculous! These people are libertarians IF THAT. They should not be part of DU, if you couldn't vote for Obama over McCain get the fuck off this website. Do you understand what having Obama over McCain has done for this country? Or are you daft?
You served on a randomly-selected Jury of DU members which reviewed this post. The review was completed at Tue Aug 18, 2015, 12:32 PM, and the Jury voted 1-6 to LEAVE IT.
Juror #1 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE
Explanation: Not voting does not make one a libertarian, or a democrat, or a republican, or a five toed shrew. It makes one a non voter. We should be working towards bringing forth candidates that inspire people to vote rather than not be bothered. Bullshit alert, and if it's hidden, bullshit hide. Grow some thicker skin, folks.
Juror #2 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE
Explanation: I don't think not voting is indicative of anything. It's a time-honored decision to choose not to vote regardless of personal feelings.
Juror #3 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE
Explanation: Many dedicated leftists Dems felt a little ambivalent about Mr. Obama (I was one) before he was elected, tho happy and hopeful for this "change" president. I was sorely disappointed at his corporatist agenda, from the exclusion of Single Payer folks during the ACA battles, to his push for TPP. Mrs. Clinton is a highly problematic candidate, some of whose supporters on DU in fact have been launching smear campaigns against Sanders. I suspect some of these people are trolls. But this is far from the most divisive post, and should stand.
Juror #4 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE
Explanation: No explanation given
Juror #5 voted to HIDE IT
Explanation: No explanation given
Juror #6 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE
Explanation: No explanation given
Juror #7 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE
Explanation: The note makes it appear there is nothing wrong with the actual post, just that the alerter has a problem with the poster. Misuse of the jury system.
Thank you very much for participating in our Jury system, and we hope you will be able to participate again in the future.

(35,568 posts)but remember that their ultimate goal is to shut you up so by leaving you save them the effort of twisting 2 more hides. Just place them on ignore and stick to more intelligent, honest conversation. Their number was up in 2008 and this is just an uglier replay of going against more leftwing posters and candidates with anything they can.
A simple rule: don't engage crazy- especially desperate crazy.
Put about 20 people on ignore to snuff out their toxic lies and DU looks again like a site where 85% of its members support Sanders and intelligent, civil conversations are going on.
I hope you'll be back real soon

(57,936 posts)My family has been generations of mostly women. We have a different culture in our family, I think, than male dominated families. We talk a lot. We giggle a lot. Even as old ladies, we talk and giggle a lot. Hmmmm! We never lose our tempers with each other. A bit of backbiting and innuendo every once in a while. Some gossiping. But basically, we don't insult each other or fight. That experssion makes me wonder about our culture.
My big disappointment with Hillary is that here is, finally, our chance to have a woman for president, and it's Hillary, and I cannot in good conscience vote for her. We need to find a really good woman who can run for president in the near future, because I and I think many in my generation would like to see a woman president before we die.

(34,111 posts)That phrase just came to mind. It was all about the boys, then the boy when one of my brothers was like me interested in music and not interested in playing baseball, basketball and football and then wrestling and golf in between.
It was very male positive but not positive at all. Perhaps oriented would have been a better choice? Whatever. I had no female relatives like you had. It would have been nice. I had 2 boys and neither have married yet but one is close I think. My times with other women are so cherished. It sounds like a heavenly, supportive way to have grown up. Now that I have gone way beyond the topic I will close with a We agree.
JDPriestly
(57,936 posts)hurts when it gets pulled. Girls do pull hair, bite, kick, etc. We didn't push or shove or shoot things as much as boys do. Now, of course, having sisters is just the greatest. I think we were all much freer to explore our masculine sides without losing our feminine cores, too. We weren't as bound by gender roles because our parents could not indulge in them. We played with dolls and boys toys. (My dad wanted the boys toys.) I think I had a wonderful childhood. My mother had brothers and really suffered from them.
And don't misunderstand me. I adore men as a part of the human race and as individuals. It's just that I think I'm lucky to have grown up in my family.
There are other things too. My parents were tee-totallers, non-smokers, non-gamblers. No addictions unless you count ice cream on Sunday nights after church. So I had a pretty idyllic childhood but for the fact that we were poorer than other families. We had a garden and often had fruit trees so we always ate well.
I feel very fortunate to have been born into my family.

(57,936 posts)or disagrees with them. They must get in that last word no matter what.
Sometimes it is best to say your say and just let the readers decide who is right. The arguments here, remember, are not like the arguments you may have at home. There really is no last word. Who is right and who is wrong is a decision the reader makes.
I see long, boring chains of people responding and responding and arguing and inevitably one of them loses it and makes a personal, biting comment. The other party to the argument calls it a win and reports the "loser," the DUer who lost his/her temper for a jury review. That is just ridiculous. And IT IS OFTEN THE SAME NAMES THAT COME UP IN THESE PRIZE-FIGHTS.
This happens a lot. And it happens a lot in certain forums.
Don't fall for it. Warn newcomers if you can. If any DUers need to have their posts removed, it is these few needlers who push other people into losing their tempers.
One trick for not losing your temper: breathe deeply when someone starts to push your buttons. Breathe deeply. And if you feel yourself getting a bit hot under the collar, use your delete or backspace button. That's what it is for.
We all make mistakes. Let's be a little tolerant for a change. And watch out for certain DUers who have a habit of goading people and getting into "shouting matches" on DU. Just don't answer them. Ostracize them and they will eventually go away.

So, rather than wasting time directly engaging them, discuss the issue presented, if any. Usually there are no issues presented, just insults, ad-hom attacks, false innuendos and as of late, numerous claims of racism. There's no logic to it, no discussion warranted. Use the ignore feature and don't take the front groups seriously, they're like TV commercials, useless wastes of time and space.
