They are just out to tear Bernie down. No matter what. Seems the majority of DU BLM and Hillary supporters are working together to just tear him down at all costs. They try to communicate this ridiculous notion that his civil rights record doesn't matter. Seriously? WTF, then it's "he's all about economics not blah blah blah blah." Ferguson was/is crippled by economic inequality and all of the PoC are struggling.
You mean to tell me if there were good paying jobs for everyone and everyone could afford a decent place to live and raise a family that it would have not made any difference? That maybe people would have the opportunity to live productive lives instead stealing and arguing with each other and the cops because there's nothing else to do. Fucking just add racist cops into the mix and boom the place explodes.
The logic (or lack of it) just blows me away. No economics has nothing to do with it.

(9,497 posts)I know when I first went in to look, that varified my feelings that it was a planned stradegy.
They are organized.
but their boat has sprung a leak.

(10,007 posts)Whatever the goals of #BlackLivesMatter may be in general, here on DU their message has been co-opted and used exclusively as an underhanded attack on Sanders.

(20,453 posts)I believe this is one of the more head banging ones with full metal on the pedal willful ignorance. I expected it from the OP -

I'm more likely to respond to embedded videos in other awful threads, because the of the obvious patter of the person on the video, which never fails to start out with - "Look, I really like Bernie Sanders
"
But, to tell you the truth, I'm trying to take some cues from Bernie's campaign philosophy, which is to keep it to the issues, not to defend the thing I don't need to, which is that I'm some vicious person, a.k.a. all of his supporters.
It's like a swell of babies. I can hear crying, and I don't wish to be caught up in that. What I MAY do is to point out the facts
And, while I'm at it, call the question
Why IS it that the video presenter R E A L L Y doesn't need to hear anymore about the record of Bernie Sanders, which includes the civil rights movement?
. which identifies disparity of wealth being equal to that of power over the oppressed populations
all of them, but in particular to the power of the police state over the black citizen.
In other words
. I have the same tired message which may well make a crescendo of "waaahhhh!!!"
So be it

(13 posts)Video evidence or any of Bernie's memes would do nicely than to argue about it. Either they get it or they don't.

(36,392 posts)They have now added racists and race baiters into the mix. The worst of it is that after she's elected, no criticism will be tolerated, regardless of how egregious her decisions are. Her meeting with blm today consisted of hemming, hawing, and then finally dismissing the representatives. Yet the cultists are swooning like me watching my grandsons kindergarten play. I'm glad that, in my dotage, I haven't lost my mind and joined such a cult. Math keeps a person sane.

(9,214 posts)would not only vastly help Blacks and other lower income people, it would do so at the expense of the 1%. But shhh, don't tell Hillary supporters or BLM supporters because they have been told economics isn't even part of the answer. I wonder why?

(399 posts)They have even gone so far to say that racial injustice must be solved *before* moving on to economic justice. Neat trick neoliberals who never planned on addressing either issue.

(9,289 posts)really weird. Racial inequality in educational and economic opportunity is a kind of economic injustice, it is a part of institutional racism, and it kills far more AAs than racist cops do (because the poverty that results kills so many AAs).

(47,953 posts)It is the only way. The vast majority of voters could not care less about this stuff. People here at DU tend to have an inflated sense of their own importance in American politics, but in fact we are a tiny tiny percent of the electorate. What really matters is spreading the word and talking to your friends and colleagues, in my opinion.

(47,953 posts)That is the trap. They enjoy arguing and provoking others. I've occasionally fallen into the trap of trying to discuss things with them and have always regretted doing so.
Personally, trashing GD has done wonders for my aggravation levels.

(9,214 posts)that they realize they are a small minority and becoming increasingly irrelevant. But damn, they are irritating aren't they?
Perusal of a couple of the back patting safe groups just makes a sane person shake their head. But then I just don't agree with political groups being protected groups. Then again if they do most of their ranting and lying to each other in one place they aren't bothering the rest of us as much.
Sometimes though I get a visual of them coming out of their safe havens like a swarm of bees leaving a disturbed hive. It just seems to be so coordinated to me.

(5,217 posts)they have got nothing real, so they have to invent shit.
It's a campaign strategy. They pretend it is not because it loses it's power if the veil is pulled aside to reveal that is is just another right wing swiftboat tactic.
It's a bullshit campaign strategy because they always directly or circuitously blame Bernie at the end of their post, or in other down thread posts.

(57,936 posts)Ferguson police were raising money by harassing and ticketing Black people for petty things then making it difficult for the people who were ticketed to pay their fines and ratcheting up the amounts owed with fees and penalties.
That's economic warfare. And it is one of the reasons that police feel free to harass, jail, imprison and kill Black suspects. The police know that the odds are that the Black suspects do not have the money to hire a good lawyer and fight back.
And cities and towns with primarily or to a great extent, minority residents, cannot raise the tax revenues needed to fund their governments and services through legitimate, normal means so they again, harass and jail and imprison and kill their residents, the people of color who live in their towns to intimidate them and force them to pay, pay, pay money that isn't there.
Economics, poverty plus racism is a lethal combination.
Black people and here in California, people of color, often experience discrimination because of the color of their skin and here, in California, because of their language or ethnicity. But when you combine racism with poverty, that's when you are most likely to get police killings. That is when police are most likely to think that they can get by with it.
So economics and racism are two aspects of the changes that need to be made to insure that Black (Hispanic, Asian and Native American in some parts of the country) Lives really do Matter.

Want to know what would happen if Bernie said this?
"Its important to remember and I certainly remember that there was a very serious crime wave that was impacting primarily communities of color and poor people. And part of it was that there was just not enough attention paid, Clinton said then. So you know, you could argue that people who were trying to address that including my husband, when he was president were responding to the very real concerns of people in the communities themselves.
He would be called out for saying the black community brought this upon themselves.
Hillary just gets a pass. Wonder why?
