(17,997 posts)Awesomeness!
I wonder how many youngsters don't get the "shave" reference. Though, I only know because my parents told me about it when I was a kid.

(25,285 posts)and put these up all over the country. In this mobile society - this would be dynamite.

(6,604 posts)Old-timers like me will appreciate it for the original reference, as well as the message.
If that's lost on anyone younger, it still works just as well.
WHEN CRABS ROAR
(3,813 posts)But all the younger ones that I talk to are for Bernie.
Now here in Port Orford 25 miles south of Bandon, where those signs were, is going to have to match them.

(15,406 posts)You may see us down your way, maybe in front of Driftwood Elementary.
Our group is very excited (we've talked about Bernie running for over three years) and we are all OLD.
WHEN CRABS ROAR
(3,813 posts)It was in front of Driftwood that almost a hundred people showed up for an Occupy demonstration, then marched to the Visitor Center and back.
I'm wearing my Bernie tee shirt as I write this.
Let us know what your plans are and we will rally the troops. We are a small but mighty.
Pastiche423
(15,406 posts)I was there for Occupy! We walked to the library afterwards, then to the marina? (lots of boats dry docked).
On Saturday we will be in the Cranberry Festival parade and planning more activities starting next week. What we really would like to do, is set up several Bernie Shaves, plus signs up and down 101.
Since 101 runs from So Cal to Washington State, we should get Sandernistas up and down the West Coast to do the same. Maybe someone could mention it on Reddit, since it has more traffic.
WHEN CRABS ROAR
(3,813 posts)Signs up and down 101 sounds like a great idea. We need to join forces or at the very least get in contact to coordinate tactics. Any ideas?
Old Crow
(2,212 posts)Maybe we can pull this revolution thing off after all.
WHEN CRABS ROAR
(3,813 posts)Now is the time for a real progressive populist movement, but the message needs to be clear and not overly complex and it needs to be repeated over and over to drive it home into the minds of the people.
Then Bernie will win

P.S. - Hey, you golfers, Bandon has one of the top-50 golf courses in the WORLD. It's a beautiful place to enjoy your time.
WHEN CRABS ROAR
(3,813 posts)25 miles south of Bandon is the small town of Port Orford, one of the few towns in the US that voted in an official election to be Patriot Act free.
P.S. - Hey you surfers, Port Orford has some of the best waves on the Oregon Coast

(9,298 posts)Traveling by car from New York to Iowa in the late 50's to visit grandparents, We
would encounter Burma Shave road placards. They provided a little humorous relief to us kids and parents. Some were a tad off-color as I remember. HAHAHAHA

(841 posts)The LAST time we Americans saw these signs on highways everywhere was the 1950s and 1960s - probably the last time America had the greatest middle class in the world. Maybe with Bernie we can get back to those times again.

Seems like even some of the conservatives around here are Feelin' the Bern!
Pastiche423
(15,406 posts)I'm going to try to find someone in Coos Bay to do the same. That way we could have them from Port Orford to North Bend.

(1,103 posts)Couldn't you just visualize signs like these all over the country! Why couldn't Bernie's 12-step economic agenda be used as a theme for these signs! Surely there are poets all around the country who could come up with sayings for such signs. Let your imaginations fly, people!

(6,941 posts)Want to relate to an older voter? Talk their language. In a subtle method unique to their life's experience. They appreciate being talked TO, rather than being hollered AT by the likes of right-wing media.
Want to relate to a younger voter? Recognize that the game is rigged and they have been left holding the bag of student loans, decreased employment opportunities, and economic inequality. They understand.
That is the genius of the Bernie Sanders campaign---he is talking everyone's language.
