Bernie Sanders
Related: About this forumHow to (attempt) to spin a positive Bernie statistic about black voters
According to the latest findings from Public Policy Polling, 65 percent of black voters support Clinton while only 14 percent back Sanders. For a man who is heralded as a civil rights veteran by his legion of supporters, that number is not impressive.Hmm...I think an 8 point jump in three months, in the Democratic party's most loyal constituency, is quite impressive, especially considering all the noise generated by the Seattle 2. Ironically...or not...this is from an article that claims black people aren't "feeling the bern."
Senator Bernie Sanders continues to pack arenas and often draws standing-room-only crowds as he vies for the Democratic nomination. Though Sanders trails former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton in most national polls, he is closing the gap. One poll shows Sanders leading Clinton in Iowa.
Part of the magnetism drawing supporters to the senator is his populist message that includes eliminating economic inequality, challenging oligarchs on Wall Street and advocating for blue-collar workers. Without question, the insurgent nature of his candidacy is igniting excitement in the Democratic base and among many progressive voters who believe a true liberal can win the nomination, and quite possibly, the White House.
There remains one inconvenient dilemma for the Sanders camp: Most black voters have yet to feel the Bern.
"Most" is technically true...but then there's that 8 point jump in three months. The jump is more indicative of a trend than the spin wants us to think. And...why is there so much ink expended on this "problem" if the trend is just a fluke?

(14,573 posts)NO ONE in the establishment wants Bernie elected and they don't want his message to even get out. He's touched a few thousand so far, but the capitalist overlords would HATE it if he got that message out to the general populace. They would like nothing better than to mire his campaign in this faux controversy so the message fails.
That's why he's gotta keep on rolling, filling arenas, getting the message out, turning questions on faux controveries (like the absurd question he fielded from a NYT reporter about Hillary's hair of all things) back to serious issues.
So far, he's doing fine, and we need to help him by putting this shit down whenever, wherever we see it. Challenge every step of the way. Even Salon is an establishment propaganda organ to some extent, as proven by this article, which by the way they copied from altnet and just slapped a different title to.

(35,568 posts)Black support for Bernie is growing daily. It's terrifying the establishment, especially on top of Corbyn's Socialist win in the UK.

(35,568 posts)Class war among our own race is no surprise since it happens everywhere. People like Malcolm and Stokely are reduced to cute avatars. Martin stops on some dreamy mountaintop and Brother West needs to STFU.
I'm sorry if I sound so mad but watching Black leaders in Dyett fuck over smart Black kids to privatize their schools and ignore parents and teachers who are in the 5th week of a hunger strike has got me really upset. Bad bad bad Brother West had the nerve to denounce the people who commit such crimes against the defenseless poor and the people who ignore these crimes.
Bernie better win.

(27,275 posts)more and more each day. perhaps that explains the insistence racial justice is separate from economic justice. it is a good way to keep ignoring the poor and diverting public funds to private schools. and THAT certainly does not benefit the poor.

(9,497 posts)Reddit has some good Spanish Language items and some of the FB groups, especially the one out of LA has lots of media in both languages.
I just remember how cool it was in 2008 when a whole bunch of people started to get together because of Obama. There was a connection here in Seattle between the Pacific Islanders, Latinos, South Asians, Africans and African Americans that we could start to realize that we had similar struggles and we needed to gather together instead of competing for what was offered.
I hope we can do it again with Bernie!

(7,231 posts)Another jump of that magnitude would put him at 32.5 percent (initial number times 2 plus 1/3).

(27,275 posts)i guess they did not think we would notice that the only significant statistic: the one that exposed the rest of the article as complete bullshit.
