Bernie Sanders
Related: About this forumLearning to Tweet for Bernie
I hope this is okay to ask.
I have not been involved in social media (Facebook).
I just started to learn Twitter for Bernie. Are a bunch of you also tweeting?
What's the best way to get noticed? I have retweeted things from Bernie's Twitter account without adding my own stuff. Is it better to add a comment when retweeting?
Do you all think this helps his campaign?
I know the past few days it has helped me stay in touch with what Bernie is up to, but I feel like a loner in the woods here.
Am I silly to think it helps spread the word about Bernie? Especially since nobody is following me.
Any advice is welcome.
Thanks a million!

I don't tweet and barely post on Facebook.
I'm not sure how all that stuff works, especially
twitter.

I think adding hashtags is how most folks do it. Because few people are probably following you, but might be following those hashtags.
I don't have a ton of followers, so I can't give much more advice there. But I'll listen in to whatever good advice you get from others.

Add hashtags to your tweets! #FeelTheBern #Bernie2016 #Sanders2016 will get your tweets noticed by fellow Bernie supporters. #UniteBlue is for all democrats.
If you have a tweet that you think will appeal to conservatives for Bernie, you can use #tcot (top conservatives on twitter) or #tlot (top libertarians on twitter).
Do a search for #FeelTheBern, you'll see a lot of tweets from Bernie fans. Click on their avatar, hit the follow button to follow them. About half will follow you back.
Make sure you have a profile photo and brief description. Doesn't have to be a photo of you, it can be a photo of Bernie. Describe yourself as a Bernie supporter, and Bernie supporters will be much more inclined to follow you back.
As far as what works to get noticed, well, I'm not so good at that, myself. Pithy snark seems to rule the twitterverse.
You will get some responses from aggressive rightwingers calling you and Bernie a stupid communist, etc. I never respond to them at all. It's impossible to have a real conversation in 140 character tweets, I'm not going to persuade them, I just don't engage.
I hope this is helpful.

(41,831 posts)if you tweet articles and videos, people will want to follow you. If they follow you, they will retweet your articles and videos. It will all expand larger and larger eventually. The thing is don't make your tweets private, if you do, people won't be able to follow you without your permission. You want the best possible way to get the word out, tweet stuff from DU and retweet things that others have about Bernie. Also suggest you add people from DU to your friends list. You can follow me if you wish, and I follow back. There are others here who also use twitter.
