Berning man: Musician organizes benefit concert for Bernie Sanders

-snip-
Bushwick is Berning!

A group of musicians will rock out to raise cash for Brooklyn-born presidential candidate Bernie Sanders on Oct. 8. The fund-raiser at the Paper Box in Bushwick will feature a bevy of Brooklyn musicians and DJs, playing a politically-charged set that the show’s founder says will get Brooklynites berning hot for the Democratic candidate.
“These are all very political, strong, passionate songs,” said Armand Aviram, who also curated the set list. “We’ll be playing John Lennon, Bob Marley, ‘Rockin’ in the Free World’ which is actually Bernie’s campaign theme song.”

Berning Up Brooklyn” at the Paper Box [17 Meadow St., between Waterbury and Bogart streets (718) 383–3815, www.paperboxnyc.com]. Oct. 8 at 7 pm. $10.

2. Neil Young snubs Donald Trump, gives “Rockin’ in the Free World” to Bernie Sanders

Unsurprisingly, Donald Trump’s presidential campaign kicked off like the joke that it is. The billionaire reality TV mogul came out in front of a crowd of partially paid supporters to Neil Young’s “Rockin’ in the Free World” (and while riding down on an escalator, no less). Beyond the fact that the song is actually a critique of Republican George H. W. Bush’s presidency and the social policies that lead to income inequality, Trump’s use of the song was inappropriate because Young never gave him permission.

Young said in a statement that Trump “was not authorized to use ‘Rockin’ in the Free World’ in his presidential candidacy announcement.” The statement added that, “Neil Young, a Canadian citizen, is a supporter of Bernie Sanders for President of the United States of America.”

Trump’s camp claimed they paid both ASCAP and BMI for rights to the song, but would cease from using it out of respect to Young. The singer, meanwhile, out of respect to his own political beliefs, has turned around and given Trump’s opponent Sanders permission to use “Rockin’ in the Free World”.

will be more musicians coming out with concerts for Bernie. I KNOW one of my most favorite, if not favorite because of his political activism is Jackson Browne. There are others who support him too, Donovan comes to mind. Don't have a list at hand, but some of the usuals who do concerts for candidates might also join in. Been hearing names here and there and there may be a website that lists names. Been so very busy with some much needed house repairs I've not done enough research.
I'm hearing from callers in to Thom Hartmann show who give out information.

THIS is great, and ESSENTIAL because our own Democratic Party seems to want Bernie to GO AWAY! I love Joe Biden, but think his name is being flouted because of Bernie's surge. No matter how much I like him, he DIDN'T announce yet and I'm sticking with Bernie no matter what. He had the strength to take on Hillary BEFORE the others so I think those who have waited stayed out because they thought she had it locked up. That they didn't come forward says a lot to me.

My respect for what he did is something I find impressive and very brave!

IF our Party was really for "we the people" it seems they would be catching on to what we're saying and what we want. JMHO!
