The DC rally is ON with a new date. Share this widely!
[font color="navy" face="Verdana"]From Facebook (copied verbatim, including typos):
[font color="black"]This is a grassroots rally lead by an organizer who has 20 years of protest and rally organizing experience. We will not ask you for any money and everyone is responsible for their own materials regarding signs and banners.
The powers that took us down out of facebook, that destroyed the rally that had 111K RSVPS, that announced Hillary Clinton as the winner of the first debate when literally EVERY ONLINE POLL AT EVERY OUTLET SHOWED BERNIE SANDERS AS THE RUNAWAY VICTOR WITH 70-86% SUPPORT - they will stop at nothing to make sure Bernie Sanders doesn't win the White House. We do believe that people who are on a payroll to work social media for Clinton are responsible for attacking our rally relentlessly for 10 days. Normal people don't spend 24 hours a day 7 days a week trolling the same event to the tune of 1,000's of troll posts and reports. They are Wall Street who regulates Congress. They are the KOCH empire. They are establishment politics. They are Oligarchs. They want to keep the shriking middle class firmly under their shoe heel so our children cannot rise. Yes this is a feudal system where the overlords will stop at nothing to keep the poor and less privileged down. Dramatic, probably. True, ABSOLUTELY. There is too much at stake this election to let them win. We must come back even stronger than before and in greater numbers. Full original content: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/100000-enough-is-enough-rally-bernie-sanders-for-president-tickets-19130771653 [font color="navy"]Share on Facebook and any other social media site you participate in. Share repeatedly, daily if possible, until the word is out all over the country and no one can stop this event. [font color="purple"]Go, Bernie! ![]() Ride the purple wave and join The Purple Revolution! ![]()

2. You mean...November 28, 2015 from 10 am to 1 pm Eastern Time? I wonder about the choice.
Thanksgiving is the 26th. College students and many others travel home shortly before the Thanksgiving, often Wednesday, to be home for Thanksgiving and then usually go back to wherever they came from on Saturday or Sunday, enjoying the longest weekend of the year. I don't know how realistic it is to expect them to travel to DC in the midst of all that. |

4. Agreed.....
would love to go, but that weekend would be horrible. It's already one of the busiest travel dates and we're going to try to get a 100,000+ in to DC?

6. Holidays and activism/political events
I was marginally involved with 1 Billion Rising a couple of years ago, the big event was on Valentine's Day. Many were there for the lead up and prep but vanished on the actual day of the flash mob. Others were focused on their dates and V day plans, they didn't stop to see what we were about. It didn't go well, at least not here. I figured it was due to the holiday, but then, it was specifically on the 14th.
Timing events like these in the fall and winter are always going to be complicated. |

7. You mean put the date in the header?
[font color="navy" face="Verdana"]No, I left it out on purpose. I wanted everyone to actually read the information at the link and learn about what's been going on.

3. I don't know about this -
Last edited Sun Oct 18, 2015, 10:11 AM - Edit history (1) the organizer having 20 years of experience can still make a mistake. Thanksgiving Weekend? Really? But what do I know.

5. It might well be a benefit.
[font color="navy" face="Verdana"]It might enable more people to attend than not. We'll just have to wait and see.

9. How about Bernie supporters knock on doors in their hometown
Instead of a rally? I think it would do a lot more good.
Make that date be a get out the vote for Bernie nationwide. |
