Third Way panics over Bernie Sanders and the new American mainstream

http://www.dailykos.com/story/2015/10/29/1442324/-Third-Way-panics-over-Bernie-Sanders-and-the-new-American-mainstream

Remember Third Way, the Wall-Street-run front group of supposed "Democrats?" Fresh off panicking over Elizabeth Warren, they're now panicking over Bernie Sanders.

"You would be back to 1972 if Bernie were nominated," warned Bill Daley, President Barack Obama's former chief of staff and a Third Way board member, referencing the blowout Richard Nixon win that year. "It was not a happy time for Democrats. The guy has been a socialist his whole life and now decides he is a Democrat and therefore the Democratic Party has got to move to that extreme? I think it is a recipe for disaster."

I love these assholes talking about the "extremes" inhabited by the likes of Sanders and Warren. What exactly is in Sanders' bucket of issues that is so far out of touch with America? Granted, he's hostile to Daley's friends on Wall Street, but that's actually popular. In fact, I'd be hard-pressed to find anything in his portfolio that is out-of-touch with the American mainstream.

There's a reason that Clinton has moved in his direction this past year instead of in the other direction. And where she doesn't quite go as far left as Sanders does, well, that's where her biggest liabilities emerge.

In its presentation, Third Way argued that a focus on issues like a $15 minimum wage, expanding Social Security benefits and advocating for single-payer health care all create the political dynamics that make Democrats electorally vulnerable.

Holy shit, those fuckers are delusional. Raising the minimum wage is overwhelmingly popular, even at $15. And who the fuck do they think is going to lose an election by advocating for greater Social Security benefits? And single payer? Popular! It's funny that the issues that supposedly doom Sanders are all issues supported by a majority of the American people, whether you want to slap the scaaaary "socialist" label on them or not.

Fact is, Sanders is well within the Democratic Party mainstream, which is well within the American mainstream. If you are against health care for all, against a minimum wage hike, and against a robust social net, then there's a word for you, and it's not "Democrat." So fuck off, Daley—this isn't your friends' party anymore.

The extreme being America for Americans over the oligarchy.

Extreme is killing millions for oil profits. Extreme is giving corporations increased welfare while reducing it for our citizens. Extreme is... the list goes on.

The America they talk about is the America owned by the 1%.

Time for the 99% to vote for Bernie and begin a change directions.

2. They Are So Threatened By Bernie They Are Willing To Sandbag Him....

from within. It was 'ok' for them to let Bernie (the Independant) caucas and vote with the Dems when he wasn't running for the nomination - but now that he is resonating with The American People they are going to tag the 'socialist' moniker on him and sabotage his effort. That sucks. And that is why they've called Hillary the 'presumptive nominee' since before the primary season started. They are ok with supporting Hillary because she doesn't threaten the 1%ers, Wall St & the Banksters & the corporations. Though Bernie has pulled her to the Left they want her to tack back to the Center now. We The People need to realize that we are being manipulated and we need to support Bernie's revolution before it's too late for us to recover. This manipulation is so evident that I'm surprised that those supporting Hillary aren't picking up on how we are being manipulated. I bet the powers that be persuaded Biden to stay out because the die was cast and he could've upset their apple cart. Take heed folks - please realize what they are conning you into doing by voting for their 'presumptive nominees' Jeb & Hillary. That's exactly why Goldman Sachs CEO says he could live with either of them. We have an opportunity with Bernie to save ourselves and our country. Don't squander it folks.

You should really feel offended by how they are manipulating you.

4. After all the insulting crap President Obama had hurled at him

After all the insulting crap President Obama had hurled at him, and which we helped repel, to have his former Chief of Staff engage in attempting to smear Senator Sanders using the same technique is just so very wrong, on several levels.

This is an example of our party's establishment trying to undermine democracy. This isn't about having an opinion, it's about beating down a Progressive upheaval that will eat into their bottom line.

Our party has become undermined by those with Wall Street, banking, and big money, connections who can talk a good game. If it doesn't seriously affect their friends cash, and we want it, then they're for it. Unless it doesn't poll well, then we have to wait for them to evolve on the issue.

6. They should all come with a disclaimer

"Past/Current/Future advocate for the 1%". Some don't even bother having the money filter to them through layers, they get it right from the source. And the attitude from the establishment is we're ungrateful, and sulky, children when we act out and throw a tantrum when they're kind enough to come over and run our party, and our government, for us.

9. The Third Way is trying to blame their abject failures on progressive ideas & values...

They are directly responsible for losing a majority of governorships, a plethora of state houses, and the House and Senate. They were completely steamrolled by the minority republicon party in the census election of 2010 directly resulting in the extensive gerrymandered situation we have today. The DCCC and the DNC have been miserable failures under Third Way tutelage and yet they have the gall, the nerve, the arrogance to blame their failures on liberal and progressive ideas, values, and candidates. It disgusts me. Not only do we need a revolution to redirect the country, we need a revolt by rank-and-file Democrats to clean out these republicon-thinking third-way corporatist thugs who took over the Democratic party by silent coup.

because they are staying home, instead of voting, or, as in my example, voting for no one on the ticket, or writing in someone not affiliated with their ticket.
