Bernie Sanders
Related: About this forumI know the real reason Bernie's access to the data was denied and I know what to do about it.
Yesterday a group of Bernie supporters turned in 3,000 signatures (the limit) to get Bernie on the ballot in Ohio.
?itok=l9-bJyV4
At least 1,000 of those signatures have to be valid Democratic party members but I'm pretty sure that nearly all will be valid because Bernie used the database to collect signatures. In Ohio we had work weekends where groups of two would get a route with addresses of Democratic members to collect signatures from. This saves Bernie money on the cost of the filing fees.
It's unfortunate that the DNC decided to respond this way but crying and hand wringing won't help now. We have to help get Bernie on the ballot in other states and we can do this in 2 ways. We can challenge the Bernie supporters in each state to cover the cost of each state to file, we can also hold signature potlucks that would be specifically catered to the requirements of each state. I know there were several threads in the Ohio for Bernie groups on FaceBook asking where we could sign the petition, many of us are rural or live in Republican heavy areas and were never going to be on a list for a signature drive. A signature gathering potluck would be a great way to meet with fellow Bernie supporters and do something important for the campaign. Bring your party ID and a covered dish.

Yep, I was thinking the same. They have that special talent--of trying "fix" things and then fixing themselves.

Thank you for being a voice of reason!

Funny, all those examples of evil are from the GOP....just like our famous Goldwater Girl.

definitely lose the next election and then some!

(2,978 posts)I'm embarrassed I don't know more about this. I thought there were only a few states where getting him on the ballot was an issue, but you're saying it's an issue in everyone of them?
I want to be more involved on the ground. I haven't been able to before but enough is enough.
People are right. This is going to backfire big time on DWS because this is what will push us to have a stellar, independent ground organization that will enable the building of the Democratic Socialist wing of the Democratic Party (or a new party, if necessary) that will help us get more Dem Socialists candidates elected in the coming decades. Bernie is just the beginning. This is much bigger than him, and he's the first to say that.
This gives me something very concrete to do and I'm motivated by RAGE. I'm sure I'm not alone.
Talk about waking a sleeping giant--the progressive wing is furious and her petty Katharine Harris-like vindictive smugness is motivating us to action.

There are 2,000,000 contributors. If 1/10 of them got out there and collected signatures, we would have it made.

Here's a likely scenario to answer my own question in a pro-sanders way - the IT guy was a plant FROM the DNC. Like a terrorist cell waiting to be activated.

(9,314 posts)He worked with Hillary's campaign in 2008, and I read that many people did not approve of his sleazy tactics. They were glad when the campaign ended and he left.
But he recently started advising Hillary's campaign on polling. He has a terrible reputation, and I am sorry she has allowed him back into her political life.

If your job is my security, I don't give a shit if I misjudge my mistrust in you after an error, those who sell security are selling trust and if it is questioned it is defective and when in the public eye appearances of wrongdoing or apathy toward wrongdoing are not acceptable.

Also my question was not even about Hillary but, rather another DUer and I just asked for clarification of race because the OP was rather unclear about it.
