As if stiffing Iowa families wasn't enough, now Clinton plans a ritzy fundraiser in Detroit.

In DETROIT. Where half the city has been ravaged by NAFTA, their jobs shipped overseas, their homes in disrepair and their Constitutional rights to democratic representation were trampled by the governor in appointing an "emergency manager" to impose severe austerity.

The fundraiser?

Well, it's at the Detroit Marriott at the Renaissance Center where wealthy auto executives will be staying while they attend an auto convention. The cost is $300 and up to $2,700. But at least you'll be able to hear singer Michael Bolton croon.

So while she's here:

Most of Detroit still looks like this:

Of all the cities in Michigan, she couldn't find another one to have her $2700 a head fundraiser? Really? It's obvious where her loyalties lie and it's not with families or poor people. That's just obscene to me. Didn't anyone on her campaign staff question the optics and DISTASTEFULNESS of her going into war-torn, poverty stricken Detroit and having a fundraiser for up to $2700 a head?

Apparently, she's recovered from her CA. fundraisers! Isn't it interesting how she just couldn't find the energy or wherewithal to drag herself to the Iowa Family Forum, but has energy aplenty to hit another $2700 a head fundraiser? PRIORITIES PEOPLE!

PEACE ✌

I suspect that she's out of touch and her advisers want the money.

She is so totally out of touch with the majority of the voting public she doesn't even try to maintain a facade of representing them. You're correct, it's all about money and power with HRC.

We can do better.

attendees get in and.....nothing else. Apparently the powers that be will keep those lowest on the totem pole far from the main attraction. In order to even get a "preferred" view of Hillary, an attendee has to pony up another $700.00. Two grand more before Hillary will pose for a photo.

I find the whole concept of segregation by the size of one's wallet very distateful. Even if I had it, I'd never pay $2700 for a photo with anybody.

area of my town with blocks and blocks and blocks of dilapidated housing on par with that, I guess it just seems exaggerated to me.

I do know there are some wealthy and upper middle class suburbs that are doing well like Gross Pointe, Ann Arbor and Wyandotte, but how does the actual city look these days? I've heard there has been some revitalization, which is great, but how is the actual "city" doing (not the suburbs)?

And, I'm honestly asking this question because I can only find extremes when I try to find images of the city. I haven't been there since I was a little girl, myself.

I found this: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/11/26/detroit-in-20-years-2033_n_4269422.html

To me, at least, it still seems as if the city has more than its far share of blight.

Most of the city does not look like that. Property values in the city are rising faster than anywhere in the state. The occupancy rate for condos and apartments downtown is just about 100 percent. And there are plenty of nice, stable neighborhoods beyond downtown. Ruin porn is popular in Google searches, but it's not representative of most of the city.
And it's coming back much faster than you think it is. It's a top destination for chefs of late, and made travel & leisure s top 25 destinations of 2016.

These are in Detroit proper. Now depending on your definition I suppose some of these may be "rich" areas, but they're all areas that are relatively open to the public (I've been near or at each of these).

(these are just areas that I'm personally familiar with, not saying it's all like that)

https://goo.gl/maps/NSXFvnZhaxz (University area, that building is student housing)
https://goo.gl/maps/ZuCrkRdfjg92 (near University)

Oh and also I'm (mock) offended at you calling Ann Arbor a suburb of Detroit!
