Martin O’Malley visits Clinton.

CLINTON, Iowa (KWQC) – The Iowa caucuses are quickly approaching, giving candidates just five more months to campaign.

One of those candidates, Democrat Martin O’Malley, made a local stop in Clinton today to talk to fellow party memebers about the main issues he is representing.

After shaking hands with those in attendance at the gathering at Eagle Point Point Park, O’Malley talked about his concerns regarding the economy. The (((OOPS! current))) Governor of Maryland also addressed his main focus, the need to raise the minimum wage.

“I believe the over arching issue of this year is how do we get wages to go up for a majority of Americans instead of flat lining or going down,” said O’Malley. “We are creating jobs every month, but we need to get wages to go up. Otherwise nothing works very well in our country, if a majority of us aren’t making more because of our hard work.”

O’Malley found support from those attending the event. One of these supporters was Highland Nichols, who explained why he supported O’Malley.

“Labor and the middle class have fallen behind and he supports raising the minimum wage and the standard of living for the middle class,” said Nichols.

O’Malley will make his next stop in Maquoketa tomorrow at the Flapjacks Family Restaurant at 10.
