Rossello Vows to Go to Any Forum to Prove Cutting Pensions is Unnecesary

In a message addressed to the people of Puerto Rico Governor Ricardo Rosselló characterized as “a blow” the proposed cut by the Fiscal Oversight and Management Board (FOB) to pensioners of the government of Puerto Rico.

Rosselló said that the effect of the proposed cut would cause a social crisis with “serious repercussions” on trade and the economy.

“Attacking the most vulnerable, while the cost of living increases, would have the effect of causing the government to have to help that population. The proposed cut by the Board does not make sense. It constitutes an attack on everyone in Puerto Rico,” Rosselló said.

The Governor also said that, by changing and objecting to fiscal plans related to actions that are improving Puerto Rico’s fiscal situation, the actions of the FOB would cause government paralysis and, with it, damage to the island.
