Some CNMI lawmakers seek investigation of governor's alleged corruption, fraud

Some lawmakers in the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands on Tuesday asked for a special legislative committee to investigate Gov. Ralph Torres for allegations of public corruption, fraud, waste and abuse of public funds.

This comes a little over a month after the FBI executed multiple search warrants on Saipan, including at Torres' office on Capital Hill and the office of the island's exclusive casino operator, Imperial Pacific International.
