Medicare for All Loses Momentum Among Voters

Wall Street Journal: “Now, enthusiasm for the proposal is waning as supporters face pointed questions over how it would work—and how it would be paid for. As a result, more candidates are backing intermediate measures, including optional buy-ins to government-run coverage that are likely more attainable in the short term.”

“Net support for a single-payer health system among all registered voters … fell from about 30% in November 2018 to 12% in February.”

have fallen for the "socialism" crap from the GOP. Sadly it seems Americans worry much more about businesses than their fellow human beings. We need to do a better job educating the voters in America.

and it was super expensive. I've been on Medicare now for 3 years and it is fantastic. If people would take the time investigate or ask someone what they think of Medicare I think they would quickly understand how wonderful it is (Thanks LBJ). I'm beginning to think it might be just a big effort by the insurance companies to convince people how terrible it will be for America when actually they are screwing the public everyday in a almost secret environment. Our healthcare system is corrupt, expensive, and affect hospitals, doctors, and people negatively. The only ones that seem to love it are the insurance companies.

Maybe if instead of everyone who is in favor of this got together and worked to find a workable plan that will show how it can be paid for and work out other bugs . There are too many different plans, ideas flying around to be considered seriously.

3. Who the heck are they talking to? Did somebody change their mind?

"Yea, I was for it last week but I heard someone call it socialism and it would cost too much so now I don't." Said no one. Anyone who has put any thought into the matter knows what they believe and they are not going to change their mind over the course of a few weeks.

I think there are some very entrenched interests that very much want this issue to be suppressed but they know they can't be up front about it because their fundamental reason for wanting our overpriced, dysfunctional, profit-motivated health care system is greed. It's no stretch of the imagination that the way to accomplish that is for polls to show interest waning, dilute it with "reasonable alternatives", and to not have too many questions asked about it in the media.

Polls are interesting but it's very hard to avoid bias...in any direction. But in media, we're going to get it the most from people with money to spend, with a vested interest in maintaining the outrageous costs of healthcare in this country.
