But he’s gay! Um, maybe I’m aware of that?

Obama was black and lost the Rust belt primaries to HRC. Then he slaughtered McCain there in the GE. He won Indiana, home of the KKK.

Mayor Pete was re-elected in a rust belt town with 80% of the vote. If you want to say ‘no chance’. will have to come up with better evidence than your prejudices against him. A poll maybe?

I think he could be a good President, but it is a long shot given the bigotry despite so many consequential strides. And despite his own amazing abilities and knowledge and experience bank at such a young age.

However, if he needed to drop out tomorrow, he has succeeded in "normalizing" his experience that is so much like that of the heteros (as if Gays were not "normal" to begin with) that will bode him and so many others well in future races for important places.

I am with Inslee and slipping toward Biden, but Pete has my heart.

He and Chasten have already made a significant difference. I can see them in the White House. I can see him besting Putin. My comfort level is greater than most. Perhaps because there are three Gays in my family who have struggled with suicidal thoughts among other struggles in a hostile world.

The Rust Belt has built-in skepticism if not hostility toward him with the possible exception of some people (primarily women) with college educations.

If he can score the Battleground Rust Belt AND African-Americans in a big way there, that would be amazing. Rooting for him.

And he challenged him to be different than he is and I think it’s a strong sign of character that he didn’t back down a bit.

I liked his answer about how to handle a bully and he’s right most bullies I have met if you just respond to them with a lack of fear in their face they back off you don’t have to be like them.

He again demonstrated that he is positive, intelligent, genuine and analytical. Above all, he's a decent human being. Anyone who writes him off fails to grasp his personal magnetism and his appeal to ordinary people. I live in the rust belt; I grew up in the rust belt. His willingness to serve our nation in the military, his depth of understanding of childish bullies, his ability to out-think and out maneuver Trump is immediately evident.

Every time I see him, I find myself more committed to him. I have great confidence in his ability to win over anyone who is willing to give him a fair hearing. I will do everything in my power to assure that Pete Buttigieg is our next President.
