Democratic National Committee and NBC choose a site for Miami's presidential debates

The Democratic National Committee and NBC News announced Friday morning that they’ve selected the Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts of Miami-Dade County to host the first presidential debates of the 2020 election.

The debates will take place on back-to-back nights on June 26 and 27 and will be aired live from 9 to 11 on NBC, MSNBC and Telemundo. As many as 10 qualifying candidates competing for the Democratic nomination to run against Donald Trump will be on stage either night, with the draw selected randomly.

The Arsht Center is located at 1300 Biscayne Blvd. Information on tickets, moderators, format and participating candidates will be announced at a later date.

The DNC first announced plans in March to host its first debates in Miami, but until Friday had kept the site under wraps. In 2016, Miami Dade College’s Kendall campus was the site for the Republican and Democratic debates held in South Florida.

Is it one of those "cavernous" venues with bad acoustics? I'm sure everyone knows what I'm talking about.

If not, that's great! I hope that ALL of the venues are somewhat smaller and intimate. There's really no need to make it an ARENA-SIZED or STADIUM-SIZED "concert" event... it's going to be televised after all.

We want and need information... not a pageant.

to Texas. For all the money and effort put in down there, the returns have notbeen great . Won twice in 20 years - 2008, 2012, and both times not needed. 2018, blue wave, and the sitting Dem Senator is defeated.

And above all, the vote counting down there is dodgy.

If we could just get certain people to stop smearing and denigrating the Democratic party... with the false claim that the party is "corrupt" and that there's "no difference between the GOP and the Democrats" (argh! infuriating!!). It's shit like that that makes people not care, not want to show up.

All I'm trying to say is, when anyone repeatedly smears the Democratic party with that type of negativity it generates apathy. When you have apathy, that discourages voter turnout. When you have low voter turnout that gives Republicans a chance to steal the elections... just like last time.

PS: Fuck Susan Sarandon.
