For now I am leaning Biden

with Harris, Klochubar, Warren, Booker or Beto as veep.

Frankly the only thing that makes me hesitant about Joe is whether the voting public will accept a candidate his age. So does that make me "ageist"?

I am going to be 73 in a month. The past month I dug up 240 square feet of sod from my lawn making a flower bed, filled it with over a ton of pea gravel, built a porch swing frame with a roof, erected a 12x14 foot pavilion on my patio and turned over the soil in my veggie garden with a shovel. I'm retired now but after sitting in a chair for about 50 years I love the feel of doing physical work. I think I'm up to it and Joe seems to thrive on getting his favorite work (politics) done and thinks he's up to it.

So I say, let's just do it.

If I were to vote in a presidential
primary today, I would vote for:
Joe Biden

Am thinking along your lines, but likely not to commit to anyone until shortly before our primary in MD.

I am "leaning", not committed. I would like to see how everyone else here at DU is leaning so I can see where we seem to be going.

I want to see what they all have to say before truly committing to any of them, but I start off with a bias for Joe, so I thought I'd declare it.

for those lucky enough to get that far with the help of decent health care and reasonable attention to fitness, rest and of course, good luck. Biden seems to have all of the above plus a loving family and winning personality so barring act of providence I don't think his age will be a hang-up. I do think a younger veep would be helpful and there are many current candidates who could easily step into either role. But I think Joe at the top of the ticket is going to be hard to beat!

think of Trump, who is a tad younger in years, but is not a healthy person. Joe is vibrant and full of life - mind and body, he's not done yet.... I'll remind the R's of that when they start using the too old bit on Joe!

wouldn't it me nice if that's all we had to worry about. And iif WH doctors can keep that human catastrophe on his feet for this long I don't think Joe is going to give them any trouble in that department!

I'm your junior, but I too just ripped out a ton of sod and have been making gravel paths that meander around planting beds where I'm growing drought-tolerant plants and CA natives.

In my estimation "Scranton Joe" Biden is the Democrat who is best poised to defeat Trump in the Electoral College. It is almost like Joe was "purpose-built" to be the anti-Trump. A guy who shows the people the difference between a fake and a real "man of the people" looks like.

We need Biden's decency and optimism in a nation where cynicism and despair prevail.

I wish we could let the man rest. He deserves to. But the nation needs him. The world needs him. The party needs him.

A Biden presidency would be very healing IMO. It would be restorative to our country and to our alliances around the world.

Peace to you.

Spence is a veep, Biden was a veep, they were speaking in a professional setting, so I don't think it indicates anything worrisome except maybe that Biden is careful not to offend the voters he needs to win MI, WI and PA

at the people who call Biden too old, but cheer on people like RBG and her abilities... it's not the years that make someone old... it's the mentality, attitude, etc... I have been cheering for Biden for years

But if Joe wins the nomination, unless he picks Senator Warren or Senator Sanders as his second, all the choices except for Inslee will be considerably younger. Joe seems to be close to Kamala Harris, my guess is he choses her as his second if he gets the nomination.
