'A dream ticket': Black lawmakers pitch Biden-Harris to beat Trump

Politico

The Congressional Black Caucus may have found an answer to its Joe Biden dilemma: Vice President Kamala Harris.

Some black lawmakers are agonizing over whether to back Biden or two members of the close-knit caucus — Sens. Harris and Cory Booker — who are also vying for the White House, according to interviews with a dozen CBC members.

But with the former vice president jumping out to a huge, if early, lead in the polls, several CBC members are warming to the idea of a Biden-Harris ticket to take on President Donald Trump.

“That would be a dream ticket for me, a dream ticket!” said Rep. Lacy Clay (D-Mo.). “If she is not the nominee, that would be a dream ticket for this country.”
If I were to vote in a presidential
primary today, I would vote for:
Joe Biden

This isn't the tiniest bit disrespectful. This is about the ticket many in the CBC think would be a dream ticket if Joe Biden is the nominee. And with him far in the lead now, this sort of speculation is perfectly natural.

I doubt Kamala Harris finds it disrespectful. It's actually very flattering for any candidate who ISN'T the frontrunner if more and more people would like her, or him, on the ticket as VP if the current frontrunner becomes the nominee for president.

The presumptive nominee can open discussions with whoever they want. Advocates for a frontrunner, year away from the nomination might as well be asking, ‘when are you going to drop out’?

Biden was a perfect fit for Obama’s campaign, bringing strength and credibility to areas where Obama was weakest: older voters, the Midwest, unions, and more generally, the white working class. Together they went on to win Indiana!

Biden is already way out from with PoC and strong with women. Harris would be an identity ornament. ‘I need a woman or PoC on the ticket Kamala, can you guess why I’m calling you first’?

The choice will be Joes. In 2008, he didn’t snap up Obama’s offer. There were days of negotiation.

asked to join the ticket as VP, if another candidate wins the presidential nomination.

And they're also ALL well aware that if they become VP, they might become president, so being selected as VP is NOT an insult. It's a tremendous vote of confidence.

They'd have to be delusional to be insulted by hearing that people think they'd be great as VP on a ticket with the current frontrunner.

Now their SUPPORTERS might be miffed, especially if they like to slam the current frontrunner as unworthy or inferior.

But if any of the candidates themselves are so narcissistic that they'd be insulted by being considered helpful to the ticket as VP, in speculation starting when another candidate is the frontrunner, then it's probably best for the party if they keep their current day job.

Sen Harris is my senator and I love her. I want her to continue to be my senator. We are fighting for the survival of our democracy which is hanging by a very very thin thread. We have to read the tea leaves on the ground where real people perceive and navigate their world.

Never forget in 2016, 53% of white women voted for white supremacy over white excellence.

For me, it boils down to this. We have a choice between white supremacy (hate and division) or white excellence (unity and hope). I'm choosing white excellence just like I chose black excellence (unity and hope) in 2008 and 2012.
