(42,862 posts)We have such an abundance of riches... so many talented DEMOCRATS. There's really no need to look outside the party, is there?

(48,975 posts)but Biden's leading with all other age groups.
And even with the youngest, Sanders has only 25%, with Biden at 15%.

(42,862 posts)One of the least reliable age groups. As we've seen time and time again that age group doesn't come out to vote in the same numbers that older loyal Democrats do. So, while the raw number may appear (on paper) to be significant, the truth of the matter is that when the rubber hits the pavement, that age group isn't reliable.
I find this to be ironic since they often refer to themselves as "the base of the party" ... which is completely untrue.
In reality, the "base" of the party are the ones who are the MOST loyal and who actually VOTE in the greatest numbers, more often, more reliably, predictably so... and who donate and support Democrats and ONLY Democrats.
Compare that behavior with the "youngest" voters who often complain that they "need a reason" to vote for Democrats and that "voting against" the GOP "isn't enough of a reason".
Lord!
I guess with age comes wisdom.

(31,261 posts)Let's wait for the first debate next month. If Joe comes through unscathed, the interest will be in the Senator Warren - Senator Sanders dynamic. Since they both have essentially the same policies, if Senator Sanders just speaks in platitudes while Senator Warren provides details, I see Senator Sanders' support collapsing and going to Senator Warren. If Senator Warren gets most or all of Senator Sanders' support, she becomes a direct and serious rival to Biden, I think that calculus will soon be in the heads of people that can support either Senator Sanders or Senator Warren.

(31,261 posts)Once they show themselves we need to treat them as hostile right out of the gate and not let up.
They were invited to add items to our platform at our platform meeting and they did a lot to disrupt that meeting. Then they showed up in our convention hall and disrupted our convention. Then their key players openly endorsed someone other than our nominee. FUCK THEM!!!! Let them demonstrate on the street outside our platform meeting and convention, but don't give them a pass into either body. FUCK THEM, we need to go scorched earth at them this time around. We need to focus on the nearly half of voters who did not vote.

(31,261 posts)My guess. After the debate next month the left leaning support begins to coalesce behind Senator Warren as the alternative to former Vice President Biden.

(3,696 posts)The best Warren did in this second choice poll was pulling 19% of Sanders voters. I expected that number to be higher. Biden was the choice of 37% of Sanders voters. There are so many candidates polling at 1% the field should narrow fairly quickly after the first debates. You can't run a campaign without money and there will be more than a few candidates with no money in the bank by then.
