O'Rourke feels 'really good' about 2020 campaign

Despite recent headlines saying “Beto O’Rourke Blew It” and “The Beto Balloon Bursts,” the 2020 Democratic presidential candidate said he feels “really good about the way we’re campaigning.”

“I’m going to people where they are in their communities,” O’Rourke said on CBS’ “Face the Nation” on Sunday morning. “No me importa. I do not care how red or blue, rural or urban; I’m showing up to listen to them, and what they’re telling me is they want this country to come together around our shared challenges. So I’m listening to them more than I am to the headlines.”

O’Rourke, a former Texas congressman, has come under fire for a recent Vanity Fair cover story in which he was quoted as saying: “I want to be in it. Man, I’m just born to be in it.” While he has since said he meant he felt he was born to be a public servant, the article was perceived by many as reflecting a sense of entitlement that he was born to be president.

“Face the Nation” host Margaret Brennan asked O’Rourke whether he thinks he can escape the backlash from that story and move past voters’ early impressions of him.

the media keep talking about it, but it is old news and not an issue. they say "he has come under fire" as if it was last week.

They are being so disgustingly unfair, misrepresenting him and even sometimes outright lying. I've been watching elections very closely for many years and aside from believing America was not stupid enough to elect Trump I have not gotten any other election wrong about who would win since I've been paying attention. I knew Gore and Kerry would lose. I knew Obama would win. I knew Bill Clinton would win. If Beto is the nominee he will win. I think Biden could possibly win if he doesn't do what he always ends up doing and shooting himself in the foot. I don't think anyone else can win because most of them are too focused on attacking Trump or Biden and not focused on healing and uniting the party so things can be fixed. That's the message America needs and as far as I can see the only two focusing on that message are Beto and Biden. If Biden is the nominee there is a risk of those on the far left not showing up. Beto is progressive enough where most of them will vote for and perhaps even volunteer but is able to sell those policies to a more moderate audience. He works harder than any other candidate I have ever seen in my life. He is an INCREDIBLE candidate and it is a colossal mistake for anyone who truly wants to beat Trump to turn their nose up to him.

It's almost as if they are using the 2016 playbook on how to disillusion energized and excited voters.
