(4,915 posts)For months, even as many candidates announced they were running, MSNBC seemed to view them as second tier as they awaited the Biden announcement. I guess it depends on your point of view.

(49,081 posts)critical of Biden, and Maddow's made it plain again and again she doesn't want people to think about electability, which is code for "don't choose Biden."
I went through MSNBC's Twitter feed one night after Chris Hayes was tweeting some anti-Biden crap, and the Twitter feed for the network had nothing positive on Biden. Nothing.

Dont know what it was like in NJ, but where I grew up, opposition to busing was usually something very unliberal.
With that said, Biden has done so much good. If hes the nominee, Id be behind him enthusiastically.

That said, I don't think the media has ever been good to Biden for most of his career.

(8,144 posts)on substance, even argument, as on tactics (stand out by taking on the top dog), delivery,
personality, and coming-from-behind factor.
I was surprised that she claimed to be the only candidate to mention a failed Latin America policy
as influencing the current humanitarian crisis, since Bidens most cogent article on this very topic had just been published, and I find the Biden-blame offensive, but yes, her personalizing
bussing was effective.
She is, though, only yet another rival trying to undercut Bidens civil right creds and his long-established ties with, and support from, black American voters, by no means assured, and in fairness, stronger with older than younger people.
She might cut into his lead along with Warren and Sanders. She might win the primaries. Or she
might be a new political darling. She is already a powerful voice as earned. However, she can not
win the general election and does not have near Bidens presidential qualifications.
What she did tonight was a win of sorts, for litigating the past, for herself most of all.
Not a win for the country.

(39,390 posts)I agree with you there. But thats what happens when you have a front runner with a record going back to the early 70s.
Harris is getting a lot of attention for her takedown but I think its political junk food at the end of the day. Nothing sustainable in and of itself.

He gave a terrible response to Harris on his bussing stance, and his NRA comment were huge mistakes. He came across as bit of a mess, and extremely out of touch.

(44,257 posts)it was implemented. A lot of unintended consequences. Love Harris, but she oversimplified and misrepresented Bidens positions and history. If she wants to get out of single digit polling she needs to promote herself and not do misleading attacks on other Democrats
I hope she does so, because shes on my short list and I want her to succeed.

(115,927 posts)Reid didn't surprise me, and Kornacki is just a windbag. O'Donnell also seemed quite negative. But a lot of that is probably just the fun of trying to puncture the front-runner.

(37,648 posts)Matthews & Biden go way back, so they're pretty friendly. But even friends recognize each other's flaws.
Do you want media that offers reality, or just a rah-rah chorus, to protect you from what may happen in an election?
If one person doesn't like a candidate, for whatever reason, you can bet your boopy there are many others who feel the same way.
