The Minnesota 2020 Primary will be on March 3, 2020

Prior to this, Minnesota used the caucus system and a straw vote to choose delegates for the nomination of Presidential candidates.

After the 2016 election, the state legislature voted to switch to a primary on a bipartisan basis. The governor of Minnesota signed that bill, so we will have a Primary for the first time in a long time.

As much as I enjoyed the caucus system, and despite having run a couple of caucuses as chair, I'm glad for this change. It will allow more people to participate and give the state a better look at voter opinion.

Isn't that a little early? There are people who haven't even decided yet. Biden might be one of them. Sherrod Brown hasn't. Jeff Merckle hasn't.I'm sure there are others.

Good for MN getting rid of the caucus system.

5. The party would do well to eliminate all caucuses. Maybe keep Iowa as a novelty?

6. It's up to each state but getting rid of caucuses is being encouraged.

Iowa and New Hampshire starting things off is another tradition that needs to die.
