Given the current flow of the campaign, at SOME point, Bernie Sanders will be asked...

"Are you a capitalist"?

How will he answer? I suspect that "I am a Democratic Socialist" won't be a sufficient.

If I were to vote in a presidential
primary today, I would vote for:
Joe Biden

The trick is explaining what that means and also distancing himself from the "overthrow capitalism" position of groups like the Democratic Socialists of America.

He's not a member of the DSA, though. Their positions don't overlap as much as one might expect, so his use of the "democratic socialist" label is curious. His interpretation and theirs - much like the American interpretation of socialism and that of, say, Europe - are notably different.

What an inconvenient question, Cha. What's the matter with you!

Yeah, he's going to be asked that one repeatedly. And an ad infinitum 'soon' will not be sufficient nor will 'no one is really interested in them and my returns are boring.'

Which is just another Trumpian response.

If the returns are so damn boring, just give them up.

But on the Democratic Socialism question? He needs to be grilled. We're all about transparency, aren't we? If our other candidates can be raked over the coals then the same applies to the Senator from Vermont.

At least 10 years of BS' Tax Returns and answering questions about the "Democratic Socialist" he says he is. And, anything else he needs to be Vetted on Now.

Thank you!

If he isn't deft enough to do so he will ultimately struggle. There are good ways to answer. For example one can say that America has a mixed economy with public and private sectors, and that is potentially a winning formula for our country as long as the corporate sector is properly regulated, to prevent monopolies and the like and that concentrated wealth isn't allowed to undermine democracy. Americans have always embraced the public sector as well as the private one, with public schools, public water districts, state highways, and programs like Medicare.

Sanders has said he comes close to being an FDR type Democrat, and that FDR is widely credited with saving Capitalism from itself by curbing it's most extreme excesses. In Europe he would likely be called a Social Democrat, and Social Democrats coexist well with Capitalism in nations like Germany.

When he tells us that he's a "Democratic Socialist," I take him at his word.

I believe he is maxed out in support. It’s only going to go down as name recognition for one or two others increases. Sanders is at a saturation point.
