Sadly, rather than actually watch and see how valuable this man is, many here will refuse to even look and continue to dismiss Beto. He's going to be the nominee, though, so they should at least get familiar with him, lol.

(2,113 posts)Trump isn't going to be beat by trying to be more volatile than he is. He will be beat by a nominee who goes out and talks to people and shows them why people should vote for them instead. Give people something to vote FOR and they will crawl through fire and broken glass to vote.

(153,184 posts)he takes ACTION, I like what he is saying and doing about the border, rather than just using those kids as a political talking point

(2,113 posts)He knows more about the border and immigration than anyone else running. You didn't see any of the others spending Christmas helping to feed asylum seekers.

Luckily we happened to be towards the front of the picture line!

(16,869 posts)After Beto was finished, his handlers were like "Anyone who would like to participate in the photo session please line up here."
We were probably third or fourth in line. Damn, he's tall...lol...and seems extremely genuine and personable.
It was interesting to me that Beto chose not to speak from the stage. He spoke from the center of the room and that, frankly, added to the impact of his speech.

(2,113 posts)I hope to one day get to see him in person. If he's the nominee I know I will since I'm in a battleground state.

(81,569 posts)Oftentimes the stuff he says after the speech is even better - it shows an eloquent, deep thinker with some serious people skills (the Kaepernick response was typical)

(2,113 posts)And according to a reporter there it was over 400 people in line! He did swear once when talking about babies with no diapers using the bathroom on the floor that they have to sleep on. I think he did it to drive home the point of just how awful the conditions are.

(2,113 posts)I expect his fundraising numbers will be released soon and I have a feeling they will surprise a whole lot of naysayers...and even if he outraises Trump the media will probably ignore it and talk about everyone else, lol.
