Bernie Sanders Calls on Amazon to Improve Workers' Conditions

https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2019-03-11/bernie-sanders-calls-on-amazon-to-improve-workers-conditions?srnd=politics-vp

Democratic presidential candidate Bernie Sanders took to twitter Monday to reiterate concerns over Amazon.com Inc. worker conditions. Responding to a critical report, he wrote that Amazon “must recognize that workers’ rights don’t stop at the minimum wage.”

"Amazon must significantly improve working conditions at its warehouses and respect the constitutional right of its employees to form a union and bargain collectively for a better life."

It’s a familiar cry from the Vermont Senator. Last fall Sanders pressed Chief Executive Officer Jeff Bezos on the rights of Whole Foods workers to organize.

Earlier in October, Amazon announced it would raise its minimum wage to $15 an hour, but that came after Sanders introduced a bill that would tax Amazon, Walmart Inc. and other big employers whose workers collect public assistance.
