Andrew Yang qualifies his UBI proposal

On FOX NEWS SUNDAY

"My program is universal, but's it's opt-in, and if you opt-in then you would be foregoing benefits from certain existing programs."
If I were to vote in a presidential
primary today, I would vote for:
Joe Biden

Example from February of this year:

"If you opt in, then you are forgoing benefits from some of these other programs," Yang said. "Many of these people would prefer $1,000 a month with no monitoring and no paperwork and that stuff to their current program, so we're going to lighten the bureaucracy in those programs, but we're not going to take anything away, if they think their current benefits are superior to $1,000 cash."

... on paper, at least, it would save $billions on various safety net programs. You'd think more would be on board with it.

You must opt out of Social Security and most welfare benefits to get UBI. A senior getting $1K a month on SS gets nothing and with a $2T price tag and a VAT tax its going to be bad news for the poor. Yang is dishonest when he says "everybody" and "every citizen". He says his goal is not to eliminate Social Security and Welfare but if it was he does not have to change what he is doing.

He is going to tax Facebook ads and Google searches.
So how much money is there really in those two things.
I find Yang good at sound bites but I question his math.
